5 lug conversion
Just wondering how dificult it would be to go from 6 ug to 5 lug. There is more of a selection going to 5 lug.

Check out my reply towards the bottom of the page. It shows the front hubs converted to 5-lug. I hope to be doing this myself soon.
I hate the 6-lug wheels on REPU's. Makes little to no sense on a small 2WD pick up having 6 lug wheels but back then that was the norm.

Makes no sense...
...for someone who hates REPU's to have one.

Sorry, but I couldn't resist!
...after all, if we only loved what 'makes sense', then there'd be lots more that we'd need to be different!
(Doesn't make sense to burn gasoline anymore...
...I want my REPU to run on home-grown, all-American... ethanol!) ;)

Yeah, I really hate REPU's (SARCASM)... Jeez, you carry on like I'm sticking a 350 under the hood or something!
Get over your love affair with the original 6 lug hubs. There's this new thing going on lately called "customizing", maybe you've heard of it?

Okay, sorry Klaus but that time I couldn't resist! Seems like anytime you get wind of someone wanting to swap out their 6-lug hubs for something else you get on your soapbox.
The bottom line is we all like our trucks a little different and that's open to interpretation.
Don't worry though Klaus... I like extreme mods but I'm also all for having it at least look period correct. You would never see my REPU or RX2 on 20" blinged out wheels. Crap, I wouldn't even want 17's on my RX2 like most of the Aussies are doing.

That's nice.
"Anytime... anyone..." -- No, actually, just you, 'cause you were carrying on about how much you "hate" the 6-lug setup... which, BTW, *IS* 'period correct'.
If you wanna talk about 'period correct customising', let me know... I was only about 10 years old at the time, but I do sorta remember the mid '70's, Lol! I also have some pics of a very 'disco' REPU...
Glad to hear you won't be stuffing a 350 in it, or making it undriveable without hydraulics,C-channels,and air bags!
Personally, if you've read the threads on big-brake/lug choice conversions, you might also come to the conclusion I have: A bit $spendy and troublesome for the (desirable!) performance improvement reasons, let alone 'merely' broader wheel selection.
...of course, coming from the POV I happen to have, I'm also *adamantly* opposed to any form of wheel 'spacers' to change lug pattern... even though *those* might be closer to 'period correct customising', arguably.
I am glad to see you've stuck around here, though, regardless. Keep chasing your dream! Regards, Klaus

Hey Klaus, after all this hooplah I'm seriously considering keeping the 6 lug pattern!!!
There are a few reasons, but the biggest reason is I've found some very tempting 6 lug Japanese wheels that cost way too much but would be very unique. Plus, I may have found a replica of that wheel offered in 6-lug that should tie me over if I ever get enough dough to buy the real deal. ;)
I'll keep you all posted!
____________
I'd buy that for a dollar!
