Need Advice 20b

I recently got a decent condition '74 REPU (no engine). I want it as my project. My question is. How difficult or how much mods I have to do if I wanna drop a 20b... Or if is too much hazzle, can I drop a 93+ 13b. I would like to drop a 20b in my REPU. HELP PLEASE. Thanks!

20b is a longer motor, not much room up there for that. Motor mounts would be fabbed. I'd bet you'd set the motor back more to make it fit. Cut the tranny tunnel out and move it back. No idea where the shift lever would end up. Heater core in the way. It's all do-able but more work. Which is why turbo's are so popular - the replacement for displacement.

3 rotor REPU

I thought it'd been done... and that there was plenty of room, provided one used a low-profile radiator & electronic fan setup...(?)

If they can be shoehorned into an rx-3, what's the issue with fitting one into a REPU?

yes it can be done, It is alot of work. But Yes, Klaus is right it can be shoehorned in.
The first couple of steps is to . . . .

Definitely move motor mounts to push engine all the way back to where the tranny is a right up against the fire wall. Get a radiator with electric fan and stuff it between the grille and where the mounting of it is now (practically the only cutting necessary in the engine bay)

The tough part comes to where the shifter location is due to moving engine back and more than likely using a 2nd gen trans or something close. It actually puts the shifter approx in the middle of the seat. This is where most of the work comes in. You need to take shifter off the tail piece like you would do when you cut it down and move it up. You have to cover old shifter hole location on tail piece and actually re drill for the shifter and move it ALL the way up on the tail piece.
When you move the engine back and use a 2nd gen tranny it will end up approx 7" to 8" inches back from center of stock shifter location. With this modification of moving shifter all the way up on tail piece it will put you right back at stock shifter location.

I really apreciate the adds. I gone stick to a 13B. Im new in this kind of things. So far I can do all the body work and all the electrical since im an aicraft electrician I have a lot of experience rewiring stuff... But engine, im not an expert at that. Also, Any 13B would bolt on the original 4speed tranny?

Can't wait to get back and have it running...

I always thought the 20b would be great in a repu. Mainly for improved torque. Webber makes a tripple throat IDA 48 that would look sweet on a 20b. Someday will probably go with supercharged 13b for torque and power. Still, love the exhaust not on 20b and 26b.
