The B2000 thru 84 had a narrow frame. There were a lot of changes for the 86 and newer, one of those may be a wider area between the front A-arms. The header wasn't the only problem with the original frame it was just too narrow to even get the rotary into. Volksnut check out your options on transmissions.

I believe that if you can find a way to keep your gears your first gear is the best of all combination. I believe that you might be able to build a transmission using a RX-7 trans and yours to get the right shifter location and the best gears. Unless you want to change to a newer rearend that has the 3.90 gears.
