Rotor housing?

Or side housing? Only one? Condition of chrome? Never overheated? Which style port job--and how extreme? (If it's a '74 rotor housing it'll have the oldschool MAZDA in all-capital letters on it...)

Value will depend...

...on the extent, and quality both of the porting job, but even more upon the amount, (or hopefully lack!), of wear on those housings... Time for some exacting measurements! I have Mazda's specs. available, if you're willing to go that route...

Mazda Overhaul Criteria, 1978 printing:

1.) Side Housing Distortion Limit--0.04mm/0.0016"
(Measured 4 times, tic-tac-toe style, using a 0.04mm feeler guage and a 60mm straight edge...)
2.) Stepped Wear Limit--0.10mm/0.0039"
(This refers to 'vertical wear' by the side seal, measured with a dial guage and magnetic base stand..."sharpen the tip of dial guage by grinding"...)
3.) Stepped wear; Inside of Oil Seal tracing mark (nearest to eccentric shaft) 0.010mm/0.0004" ; Outside of Oil Seal tracing mark (nearest to side seal) 0.10mm/0.0039"
(Once again, using your sharp-tipped dial guage and base...)
4.) Stepped Wear by Oil Seal Limit--0.02mm/0.0008"
(This is the circular groove nearest the intake port; also measured as above...)
5.) Depth Limit of Scratches on the SLiding Surface:
Area 'A'--Inside of Oil Seal--0.01mm/0.0004"
Area 'B'--Area covered by the side seals, to the top and bottom of the trochoid area--0.1mm/0.00039"
Area 'C'--Area covered by the corner and apex seals, around the outside edge, nearest the side seal--0.1mm/0.00039" (Also measured as above...)
6.) Fretting and Corrosion Limit--0.07mm/0.0028"
This refers to corrosion to the inside of the inner sealing rubber, between the side and rotor housings... also measured as above...)
7.) Depth Limit of Corrosion Outside of Sealing Rubber--0.20mm/0.0079" (Area bordering tension bolt holes/water jacket... also measured as above...)
8.) Depth Limit of Corrosion, Inner Sealing Rubber touching portion--0.07mm/0.0028" ...Ditto...
9.) Chips around Eccentric Shaft Bore--Replace if beyond oil seal tracing mark.
Side housings can be resurfaced, within limits. Lapping is preferred over grinding... Surface roughness must be between 0.0007-0.0020mm/0.00003-0.00008"
Surface flatness must be within 0.03mm/0.0012"
Regrinding Amount less than 0.18mm/0.007"
* Less than 0.10mm/0.004" in case with 80 C sprayed layer (I believe this refers to the dull-grey in appearance, later 'nitrided' side housings...)
Also of interest is any history available on these housings... especially who, and how and when they were ported...
(Thanks, Charles, for the data/specs!)

Always difficult to be sure...

...when the seller is not the original owner. I think I overwhelmed him w./ those specs.... Can't say I blame him as rotaries don't seem to be his thing...(at least not yet!)
