WTT: 1990 Convertible Mazda RX-7

Is anyone interested in trading your REPU for my 1990 Convertible Mazda RX-7? The car is basicly bone stock, the only things that are done is an Apexi dual funnel intake kit, and a racingbeat header/presilencer (streetable). And the exhaust sounds horrible because it is running the stock cat back, and I believe the Y pipe has a hole rusted in it somewere because it is louder than hell....

Anyways, the car need some work, not perfect, but definately not bad! It is also a prime example of why you shouldn't park at wally fart, because it has quite a bit of door dings.... Can't see them from straight on or anything, but when you look down the side you see alot... Also the car was wrecked in the front corner (drivers side), and fixed back good. The cut off in front of the strut tower, over to the batery, and replaced it all. Can't notice it AT ALL when driving, and the only reason you can tell is because the bumper doesn't line up with the fenders perfect (there is about a 1/16" gap on one side, and the other is really tight....) That could probably be worked out with a couple of hours from a good body man.... But I don't have that much talent in body work. Also the welds need to be grinded down, they are very good show quality welds, but that's not what you want to see when popping the hood....

The last three bad things worth mentioning....

1.) The front passengers side wheel bearing is going bad, it must be a pretty common thing, because this is the third 2nd generation Rx-7 that I have had do this to me! (I have had 6.....) It costs $100 for the bearing/races for BOTH front wheels, and they are easy to do, I just don't really want to mess with it.... But if anyone wants to drive the car a ways.... I will replace them if you buy the parts....

2.) The engine smokes on start up, also another common rotary thing I guess. The car has 126,000 miles on it, and every RX-7 that I have owned has smoked on start up.... Once the engine is warmed up you can do anything you would like, and not a puff will flutter out the exhuast, but if you push it over 2000 RPM's when cold, it will put out plumes! I haven't done a compression check, but I would assume it is heading for a rebuild seeing the milage, and it smokes on startup. Also it cranks about 1-2 second longer than it should. It has never left me standing yet, and I have driven it about 1000 miles! The only thing I have had to do is add 1 quart of oil to it.

3.) The top is ripped right behind the window on both side (on the drain pockets of the top) Where a previous owner didn't clean out the drain pockets, and it dry rotted the top, and then they rolled it down, and it ripped on both sides... Or from rolling the top down in whether to cold.... Probably a combination of both, seeing as how the car is 14 years old. A new top is $350-400 dollars + installation (unless you want to try your self....) I've just not worried about the rips, and when it rains in SC it usually is a down poor, and there is very little water that gets into the car.... It drives out with a nice ride with the top down, if anything gets in....

That sums up the bad. Now the good:

The seats have been recovered, they looks good.... nothing wrong there.

All of the demister grills/vents are intact! One is missing one fin (the passengers side demister grill...) But hardly any are funcional (due to being stuck... Probably just need cleaner!)

Like said above, it has a racing beat header/presilencer, and an apexi dual funnel air filter. Those things cost me about $400....

Also has a set of Intrax/Bilstein Lowering springs(I'm not sure what brand, I didn't buy them, all I know is that they are blue...)

There's not much else to be said.... it runs/drives good. Handles AWSOME!

Also the worst thing about the car, that I almost forgot.... It's a freakin auto-magic! Such a horrible tranny! A manual trannsmission would do so much good for this car!

And lastly, if anyone is interested and would like to trade their truck+some cash, I will throw in a 1987 TII (clutch type) Differential, and a driveshaft. So when you do that almight turbo swap you'll have a diff/driveshaft to hold the power!

Anyways, if your interested in a trade, post up some pictures of you truck (or other vintage rotary!) And if it's a nice one, I'll take an even trade.... If it's a beater, I'm looking for some cash on top of the truck.... (not piles or anything... just enough to make up the difference.)

Also here are some pictures of the car:

(In ^ picture the center vents, idiot light surround, and center surround are gone, but I have since replaced them! The only interior piece still missing is the steering column surround.)
