quote: FYI and they're a nice looking shock. BIG fat shock body. They can hold 200psi each and can support 1100lbs! These shocks look very heavy duty.
Hey Brad,
Can you mount them in such a way as you can actually lower the rear of the truck for easier loading?
I'd like something that I can lower for easier loading of my bike, and then pump them back up.
Maybe airbags are the only way to go for that?

Nothing else
I know of will lower past the limits of a more conventional suspension setup... notwithstanding one so soft you could bounce it down, temporarily... time to take a page from the lowrider guys? Airbags, hydraulics, (and a tilt/dump bed)...? ...or one that slides back, down, and off the rails like a big trash container truck...?

it won't lower the truck
if theres no air in the shocks then it will go as low as having no shocks would let it go. the leaf springs would still support the rear. i also wouldn't want to load up the bed with no air in the shocks, might bottom out the shocks.
might need hydraulic shocks or air bags to lower to load. the bouncing mini-truck crowd might be able to help with that direction.

well, the Sensatrac's finally died
Removed them, compressed the shock and it takes forever for it to return to normal length. Truck seemed to have a harsh ride, that's why.
This is what was in there: SENSA-TRAC? TRUCK SHOCK ABSORBERS 37097 spec'd for Dodge D-50 pickup.
My REPU was very very low in front and it probally bottomed out the shock. OR just plain wore it out being in fully compressed mode all the time. Been in there for 3 years, on and off daily driver, sometimes parked for 1-3months. Not sure if it was too high a spring rate (500) for those shocks or not.
Found out shocks for 67-69 Camaro fit repu. Bought the sensatrac spec'd for that car. Monroe part# 5804. Shock body diameter is 1.65" compared to the 1.75" that I put in there. Camaro is a heavy car, hopefully the valving will be REPU friendly. We'll see.

camaro sensatrac shocks installed up front
rides a lot better and the front lifted up 1/8" so the old shocks were definately shot. Haven't taken a corner hard but so far the ride is comfy again and doesn't wallow or lean excessively. i'm looking at some $75 Bilstein HD or Doestech truck shocks. Perhaps next year, just bought a BEL 965 radar detector today.
