Front coilovers installed,, work great.

I might sell coilovers as a kit in the future, if enough people interested. There's a few different spring rates to choose from too. No pricing right now but it'll be in the ballpark for any other comparable coilover kit. There are some modifications that need to be done to every part to make it fit. My gosh, it is great being able to adjust front ride height just by turning the threaded perch then tightening lock nut. Only takes me 30 minutes tops to do one side. Pictures are with coilovers set to "minimum slam", lowered it approx 1 inch. And you can see my neato prototype non-locking chrome gascap too Klaus =)

Very cool...

How does it ride on the highway and how does it affect the camber?

Thanks Max.

By nature of it's unequal length A-arms, whenever the REPU is lowered, whether by cutting or heating stock springs, or by replacing springs, positive camber is increased, positive caster is decreased, and toe-in is increased. Which decreases cornering grip and induces large slip angles on front tires, and way too much understeer.

I was able to get negative camber by removing *all* the alignment adjustment shims from the upper A-arm. Of course that also decreased caster. I also made my own toe plates to adjust toe to a better spec. The truck now turns in much better and understeer at above auto-x speeds is not an issue. Once I replace the ball joints, etc. in front suspension then I'll take it to an alignment shop that does custom alignments and see what we can do.

You can see the neg camber in the pics above!

I can say the way my suspension is setup today, the REPU corners well. This morning I took my favourite freeway offramp at the highest speed ever in the truck, and it was stable, consistant, and stuck.

I will be autocrossing her this Sunday, wish me luck. I'm also slowly working on a rear swaybar for REPU. The Addco bar would not clear my rear muffler, which is behind the axel. Plus I didn't like how the Addco bar mounts to the suspension (bolts to leafs instead of axel) and Heim Joints (which would be needed for my idea) are more adjustable, sensative, efficient, and make less noise than rod links (really! RB says so too!).

You GO, Brad !!!

Very, very cool! Now the rear just needs dropped an inch or two, as well...

Your chrome non-locking cap sure looks good, too... but in a day and age where theives have been known to go so far as to cut into the filler neck via the wheelwell, a locker is still the first line of visual deterrence, IMHO...

(The 'inserts' in my van's dual tanks' filler necks *someone* chopped out in their greed to ram a hose down... Aaargh!!!) --No kidding-- :(

Your pics remind me of my old blue REPU, the one Neal bought... the previous owner had de-shimmed the front to achieve same neg. camber... but didn't do anything else to improve the situation.

I'd be very interested in the package cost, when you get it worked out to that point... :)

Suspension

That's a hell of nice looking truck Brad and it seems that your engineering some very useful mods for REPU's as well.
I too would be interested in your coil-over kit if it comes to pass.In the meatime check out your oil cooler mounts on the passenger side, in the pics, it looks like it hangs low on that side. If they fail on the pass side, without the all the sheetmetal pieces, the cooler will drag the pavement with some damage.

Thanks OVQUICK

I've worked *hard* on the truck. Got brand new oil cooler rubber mounts and custom made brackets. Nylox nutted in. I've been meaning to level it out but I gotta pull the whole radiator to get at it. I should safteywire it! The gutter in front of my driveway has steep dip I'm trying to get the city to fix before I put my new and painted valance and tray on. They are slow as beauracrats and I might just drop some steel pipes in the gutter for drainage and QuickCrete over it.

I'll let you know when the coilover deal becomes a reality. Guessing I would need 10 people ready to buy before doing it.
