price

Ken, whats the going rate for a lower control arm, I just happen to have a spare for the right price. Brad, what seems fair to you. If I were Bruce, It'd be about $400, But I'll be more reasonable. Let me know.

Well, if the asking price is too high I'll just go to a junkyard and pull one off a courier/1600/b1800. They're not impossible to find guys. I need to go there anyways to look at brake boosters.

I'd pay $35 + shipping to 90505 for a used lower control arm. Brad

Shep, were there any 'other' piston versions

...of that motor, perhaps sold in different models? And, what year(s) were identical enough for your purposes?

More importantly, how does one ID such a motor, if it's not in an original B-series chassis?

Ken, glad to hear you're not just tossing the fruits of your labors... even the less needed ones!

B 1600 engine

Besides the B 1600 the engine went into the 808 autos as well, NAPA did offer them rebuilt (short block, a long time ago)I think, but am not sure, the 1600 block numbers started with NA, hope that helps some.

Business has been good....

Sorry, many of you have asked for parts and I have been a little slow to respond to some. Got a lot of emails over the last few days. Seems we have a lot of observers on the forum who want parts but don't always post.

I sold off the control arms, left lower, and both uppers. Sold the hub assemblies with spindles, a bed, the gas tank, etc. Of course, a sale isn't final unless it is completed.

Klaus, I still have alla the second tier parts that has caused me the most pain, you know, the window frames, carburetors, intake manifolds, coils, air boxes. heaters, etc. No requests for those.

Brad and Charles, as for a fair price for a lower control arm, I ask $60 delivered. If you take out $20 for shipping, that is $40. I asked $100 for a left lower and a set of uppers. Take out $25 for shipping, that is $75 delivered with no hauling tools to a junkyard and trying to remove ball joints, tie rods, and springs in the dirt. I did all that work. Any less, with all due respect, but I prefer them sitting on my "just-in-case"shelf. I got even more for the set I just sold.

Shep, I only have rotary stuff, no pistons, I misunderstood your request, but the answer is still the same, I have nothing for you.

Bruce, I got your request and I'll email you.

Many people have asked for the same parts. I can't sell the same parts to everybody, so I took earliest and/or best offer. I apologize if I sounded rude, but I guess I am a bit frustrated with my steardship of these parts. In the old place I had much more storage than I do right now. When I get a shop built, I will have more capacity. but it is what it is. As much as I'd like to, I just can't seem to toss good parts, regardless of what they are.

Also, I managed to scrap the truck cab and partial frame without giving up the serial tags and title. Don't know what I'll do with it yet, but at least I have it. I'm sure it will come in handy down the road. The scrapyard owners were a little leary at first but in the end, they agreed to "destroy the evidence" quickly and only for free. They usually pay $56/ton.

Heading out to Detroit, in the morning, Auburn Hills? Anyone close? I'll be there for the rest of the week.

Coming to my turf, eh?

Ken,

I'm all of two and a half hours from Detroit over here on the west side. Look at Grand Rapids on a map, look about 30 miles NE and you'll see Greenville. I'm fairly slammed this week with work, but I'd love to get together for a drink or something, depending on your schedule and whether or not you'll have a car. I could meet tomorrow in Lansing, maybe a little closer than that on Friday. Thursday is totally out because I have to go to Alpena (extreme NE corner of lower peninsula). Give me a call when you get a chance (616.225.0780).

Neal.

Not unless...

...they used the Japan/Australia naming system back then. (Luce, Familia, etc.) One would think all N. American models to have been badged/named more or less the same...

Don't suppose that same basic engine was sold under any other names, as part of another manufacturer's line of imports?

What year(s) were/are identical enough?

Always Look'n fer Parts

Hey Ken,

Wish I'd found you sooner...... Needed a tank BAD! However, my next need is for a .462 gear set. I have a 3.90 out of my '77 that I swapped for a 4.11 from my Courier. I have a 4.37 in my '75, but will eventually need a 4.62 for towing. I'd be willing to do a swap with the 3.90 if you need something for a trailer. The 4.11 works well for a road gear which is the current primary use of the truck. Let me know if you'd like to work a deal on a 4.62.

Thanks.....

Rob

Sorry,....

The 4.62 I have available now is spoken for. I also have a couple of 4.37's already. I may have another couple 4.62's available this spring or summer.

I will use a standard trailer axle with electric brake setup for the trailer. I'l take advantage of the battery box to power emergency braking.

Don't need to waste a perfectly good truck axle on a trailer.

If I may..:

Unless I'm mistaken, the above requester is Haydon, who is rebuilding/restoring/customising his '75 REPU in New Zealand.(!)

Haydon, you should know that it's extremely unlikely that you'll find an original steel REPU valance in 'near mint' condition for sale at any price... however, there was a fiberglass reproduction made that might yet be available from *someone* for a reasonable amount...

Everyone: Haydon has a buddy in CA. who is loading up a shipping container to send 'downunda' to the Kiwi lands... therefore, the entire shipping/crating hassle *may* be not such a huge issue,(I'd hope!).

Sure be swell if one of the few --if not the only-- Kiwi REPU could be complete...!

(Haydon, if no one else has better quality bits for ya, perhaps I can come up with ones 'good enough', at a price we can agree on...?)

Regards, Klaus
