FYI:Did you know?
Fed up with the BS afflicting your computer that comes thru via the 'net? Are you even aware of what's really lurking on your machine? It's known as 'spyware'...I just got hip to 'spybot', a totally cool freeware/shareware app. that will amaze and enlighten... Do a google search on it, download it, and use it to search and destroy the invaders! Be aware, it is only one small step in the ongoing battle, and must be kept updated and run again, ongoing...

Fed Up?
Wipe your machine, install Linux, and be done with it :)

You who are in the know...
OK, since you're allowing this 'off' topic (for now?), does Linux do everything I'd need it to? And how/where/how much$$$? I'm a novice when it comes to 'puters... Thanks!

Cheap!
You can get a Bootable-CD version of linux called Knoppix for $5 from cheapbytes.com
You'll get a bootable CD (ie, put CD into computer, and reboot into the cdrom). It has a collection of Linux software, hardware detection, and support for many graphic cards, sound cards, SCSI and USB devices and other peripherals. KNOPPIX can be used as a Linux demo, as it is not necessary to install anything on a hard disk.
So, you can test it out, try the Linux user interface, i think you can even setup your modem to dial out, if that is what you have, or connect the computer to the network and surf the web that way.

Thanks!!!
Sounds just TOO cool! Now we'll see how long it takes me to get a 'round tuit'... Meanwhile, I found out there's a thing called 'spywareblaster' out there for free as well, that you don't have to keep re-running all the time...it just keeps 'em all OUT from the get-go...! Take THAT, automated corporate data thieves!
