building a repu?

ok seeing as there are not alot of repu's in nz I was wondering what I would need to do to build a repu look alike out of a Mazda B1600. Is it easy to buy a nice rotary power tail gate? and also interested in how hard the square mazda rotary grill conversion is?
thanks

Well.....

If you're after nothing more than a "look-alike", well, you'd need the front grille, headlight surrounds, chrome trim that accompanies them, the chrome hood trim strip, front fenders, box sides, battery box and door, sidemarkers, lower intake valance and splitter and if you want to get really into it, the dashboard assembly w/radio bezel and glove box door as well as instrument cluster, not to mention the 6-lug hubs. The "Rotary Power" tailgate I believe is the same as the B1600's, except for maybe the number of stiffeners. The lettering is just a decal, not embossed like "FORD" is on Courier tailgates.

I'm sure some of the guys will be able to add stuff I've left off. Of course, I'm going on the assumption you already know what you need to swap in the 4Port 13B.

Giddyup.

Geesh....

How in the H*LL did I forget the taillights. Yeah, those too, except you're going to need to fabricate a panel so they will fit/look right. The fender flares are built into the fenders and box sides, not separate items.

Then there's the pesky issue...

...about the width of the track of the chassis... I believe the REPU's is wider? Not to mention front vs. rear... (of course, one *could* always make up for that with wider wheels and body work...)
Why not keep REPU, REPU... and build your custom rotorhauler as well? Box flared fenders could look really cool, too... Those choice bits that are unique to REPU's are needed on those that survive, or can be built!

Hey Killab, there is a real mint B1600 up at Wellsford at least it was still there 2 months ago, I spoke to the guy before Christmas to see if he wanted to sell & he said he would, I think he said he wanted $2,500 for it. I'm going up to Whangarei for Easter if I see it on my way through do you want me to find out more on it?
