REPU key ring?

Did Mazda ever have a repu badge on the pickups, or any type of badge that is?
Cause most rotors around this era had something on the back end. They even had diff kinds, like some Rx3s in Japan, Au, and Nz came with a Savanna badge on the back. Same gose with the Rx2s. But most of you already now this I bet.

What Im getting at is this, did the Rotary Pickups ever have anything like this?
Reason for asking is cause I would like to get some key rings done up. I have a Savanna one that looks just like the badge they stuck on the Rx3s.

Ok maybe not.. :|
What would you guys say about a key ring that said ROTARY POWER with the same text as the tail gates have. Or just one that says REPU on it.

What you guys think?

REPU

I like the REPU idea. Are you contemplating making something or having it done. Either way count me in for one.

Rotary keys

I'd like to find someone with rotary key blanks.I see in the 1974 parts manual that they had a rotor and old script M on the keys.

yea, that would be sweet....

but the last set I saw on ebay went for like $125 or so. A bit spendy for my tastes. I assume key blanks are stamped. That would be a spendy initiative. But boy, a box of them bad boys and a man could retire....

I gots mine!

I got a brand new ignition switch with aformentioned old-school keys from Craig for a pretty reasonable price at that. I think I got the last one (sorry) and its definitely a prize.

On that note he's selling another gas cap:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&category=46097&item=2452331335

Its worth and easy $75 if you saw it in person, those pics aren't that great, I should take some of mine.

Mind you I'm not intentionally shilling for him or anything, but you have to understand that this stuff is NOS and he makes it available for not outrageous prices (if you can be honest about value). Fifty smackers is a great price for this piece. If I wasn't short on money for other stuff I'd buy it as a second piece.

I'll take pics of my ignition switch and keys next week when I'm back down south to visit my folks. I don't know WHERE we can get keys cast, that's pretty tough. I'm not sure I want to sacrifice one of my brand new keys, but I'll look for places that will do castings, but be warned they won't be cheap.

Martin

take the NOS ignition switch and keys with your door lock cylinders w/keys and have the door locks recoded to match the ignition key by a reliable locksmith. That way you only have to carry one key and all the locks will feel like new.

Thanks for the tip, I had the same thought. One of my neighbours, and a guy I go riding with sometimes is a locksmith and he said he'd be happy to rekey them for me :)

Its a shame the gas cap is a totally different kind of key or he'd be able to rekey that for me too :)

I keep all my shiny NOS parts wrapped up and stored in my parts bin just waiting until I get to their respective phases of the restoration. I've been saving up for a welder lately which is why I've refrained from scooping up ebay offerings when I see them.

Where are you getting the cap and gasket?

Might want to drop Craig a line. Prob get the whole thing to your door for ~$60-. Worth asking. I can't remember but I think I paid $45-50 for my cap from him and don't remember what I paid for the gasket. UPS ground was like 5 or 6 bucks. At least you know who you're dealing with if you buy from Craig.

I was getting it from Craig, just with all the emails something was left out about shipping.
I have been trying to get my money out to him for the past two months just a lot of life shit has gone down. Tell just now when I got some x-miss money, I was able to get him 45 for the items. Does suck that shipping price got missed out somewere.

Oh well, dont really need a locking gas cap right now anyways..
Can use the 45 dollars to help me with gas while trying to get another job..

How dose your locking gas cap look?

Sorry to hear that, I'm sure it was a misunderstanding. He's usually busy and a little slow to respond but definitely honest. We've swapped parts and such and never run into any trouble. Course I'm slow like he is so maybe that's why it always works :)

My cap is hands down the best thing about my truck right now. Its heavy, I'd say about a 1-1.5 pounds. Solid. The finish is a good thick chrome, just slightly bluish like good chrome usually is. THe locking mechanism is smooth and easy to work and that little door swings shut over the key hole to give it a nice finished look.

I'll take pics of it when I go back to see my folks in a couple weeks. I know it won't help anyone, but I'll snap some of my ignition switch too. The old-school logos on the keys are really what makes this item such a prize.

There are actually several different keys depending on which year of vehicle you have and there could be differences in the door and ignition locks (different key blank totally) also the keys were stamped which might make it harder to get, I do know where there was a new ignition switch to a 77 but the owner would not part with it. The gas caps are sweet i managed to pick up enough for all of my repus (5) which is a good thing as they like to try to swipe gas around here.
