4wd REPU

Sorry if this has been covered but has anyone ever converted a REPU to 4wd?I wouldn't think of doing it to a pristene ride but maybe one that was not in great shape.Maybe a front end from a newer mazda truck or even easier a early 80's toyota solid front axle with leaf springs.Heck maybe even a front axle from a suzuki samurai or Brute IV.Just wondering because I think it would be pretty neat to see a lifted REPU.I have no plans of doing this by the way just wondering out loud.

to my knowledge, no one has done it "yet".

there is a pretty long thread somewhere on this board discussing it. use the search to find it.

Done in 1975

A 4WD repu was make and in an article in, I believe, Off Roader about April 1975. It might even have been the cover story. If I remember right, they used a jeep front end and transfer case along with lifting the entire truck. They put on large off-road tire, but were a little disappointed with the low-end torque.
