Actually, I havent seen any REPU 5 speed Tranny. As far as I know, the 76 Cosmo trannies and the TII are the best. Now, I heard that to use a TII tranny, the bellhousing must be changed to the old ones (Pre-RX-7) for it to work.

Yes and No...

Early 1st-gen trannies have 'better' synchros, but the old ribcase ones are desirable for high-power app's nonetheless, and parts are getting rarer... so if it's not trash, get it,(for parts, for whoever needs 'em), anyway!

Early 1st-gen: better synchros
GSL-SE: pilot/countershaft bearing prob's
Old ribcase: desirable for hi-po app's due to inherent strength--not to mention specific ratios in specific years/factory app's. ...
