Can someone point me in the right direction..........

I am looking for any info I can on old Ford Couriers and I found this site. Been reading here for a couple of days and these rotary powered trucks sound pretty damn sweet. A friend and I are on the pursuit of a pair of old Ford Couriers and now maybe a Repu or two...
Does anyone know if there is a board dedicated to the couriers or old mazda trucks?

thanks for your help,

Jason

AFAIK

As far as I know, this is the ony board close to Ford Couriers or early Mazda Trucks out there.

You're welcome to post in the "pickup bed" forum.. but post an a question about a pissed-on engine in the engine forum, and the reply will be "Put a rotary in there!" :)

There is a yahoo group for the Courier:

Welcome to the forum!

Our Admin. certainly tells it like it is... so, you gonna do up those Couriers with hot-rod rotaries, or what? :) Better yet, get those REPU's and build 'em, or at least save every single piece you possibly can! "Obsolete" Ford parts: there are a number of specialty parts houses in various locations who might still have something... Green's Sales Co. comes to mind... Time for some serious research!
Do let us know what you find...

thanks guys for the quick reply....

Yeah, you know in the world of Minis...it seems that pretty much everything anymore is s-series...bagged s-sereis this, bagged s-series that. Not to hate or anything cause that is what I currently drive but I am looking for something "old skool"..... In my eyes that puts you all *in general* (courier, mazda) at the top of my list of trucks to look at. Personally, I'd love to see a early, early courier or mazda with a nice little engine rebuild, body returned to stock as much as possible bagged on large diameter billets.....

and the bonus to all this...my wife has actually said, "ok thats fine." wooohoooo!!! I also have my eyes out for a datsun 320, 520, 521, and the latest I would go on that would be the bulletside 620..

But I would rather see a courier or mazda laid out.....
as for the rotary engine.....its new to me and as rare as you all make the repu out to be I'm sure I'll never find one of those. It would be funt o be able to learn a new engine platform...that wankel just looks cool.....

anyway thanks for the replys

As much as we'd like to see you in a REPU...

I believe we would all appreciate a nicely operational and well cared for vintage piston brother too. I find the simplicity of all types of "old school" vehicles of interest long before any late models of any kind.

I don't know how much help we here could help you though, as we are a "Rotary" environment. But please, as rare as our beasts are, if you look hard enough and use the right techniques, you can find one fairly easily. The condition being the most unknown element.

Give a good search a try before settling on reciprocal version.

yeah, well honestly I am looking for a truck that people forgot about or never knew about. That being said noting fits what I am looking for more than a repu...I will deffinatly keep my eyes peeled for one. If anyone has one in the portland OR area and thier wife is threating to kick your butt to the curb if you dont get rid of it I know someone that has a warm and loving home for one :D

How far south are you willing to travel?

I 'might' be willing to part with one...or most of one, anyways... and then there's the one Matt22 found in Roseburg...(or was it Medford?) I believe it's still sitting, complete and unloved...Matt has yet to deal, or reveal. We're here in Eugene...
How much of a ground-up project are you ready for? What's your budget like? (Hint: unless you have some bucks as well as good fortune, they're ALL projects...)

how much of a project am I ready for? well...i was really hoping to find a project truck that I could at lest move under its own power. hoping was the key word here....

I have done 2 53 ford f-100's whihc involved a complete teardown to the frame...that was not really all that much fun and the extended down time had a tendancy to cuase my interest to change and the overall projects to take long to completion...

so that being said, I would really liek to have something to tinker with. I have not been shown body work so I would need to have that outsourced. but at the same time I really dont want to sink a ton of money into it.....

so your fortunes comment has me concerned as I dont have much of that!! :D
