Just got a 74 REPU.

First off I'd like to introduce myself. My name is Josiah and I now live in the great PNW. This coming Saturday I am going to pick up a 74 REPU from a co worker who has owned it for a number of years. He parked the truck after the ignition switch failed and already had too many projects to cater to this one. It supposedly has an older Adkins built 13b in it. Perhaps as street port as he knew it was ported by them. It's got a few other goodies even though I'm unsure of the condition of them at this moment. MSD ignition, Carter AFB carb, some kind of header, and exhaust.

Once I pick up the truck I am having it towed to my friends shop in Kent. Good box motorsports is the name of the shop.I met the owner of the shop via the RX8 forums when I had my RX8 and was looking for someone that I could trust to help me service and maintain my RX8.

First thing we are going to do is go thru the truck and see what all will need to be replaced as it's sat in the same spot for a number of years. Greater than 10 that I know of. I'm also going try and address the ignition switch to see if maybe we can fix it or if I am going to need to find a replacement. I'm already finding that that is not an easy task. Amazon, ebay, and a few other places I've looked hasn't come up with a solution. I am going to try and see if the local mazda dealership can source me one.

I would love to be able to get this truck running with whats there now and enjoy it until I decide to take it further with the mods.

Any help with locating a switch would be great. I've done some searching on the site already and haven't seen many posts that relate that aren't outdated.

This is the truck in it's current condition. definitely got my work cut out for me as I've already got a project car that's not even close to being finished. A 1991 Mitsubishi Galant VR-4 for anyone that is interested.

You might check parts for the 1974 Ford Courier, many parts are the same as for the REPU.

Welcome, Josiah....

There was a guy selling NOS Mazda B1800 switches on fleabay earlier this year... Depending on your truck, these switches may fit...

Unfortunately for me, my truck has an ignition switch with pigtails, so I had to rewire my truck to use this switch.

Here is the thread in the Auctions section of the board:

http://www.mazdarepu.com/board/viewthread.php3?FID=10&TID=3159

While these auctions are gone, there appears to be an aftermarket switch still available:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Ignition-Lock-Cylinder-BECK-ARNLEY-201-1126-/360816846806?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr&hash=item54025c27d6#ht_939wt_1206

Says they are Beck Arnely, but those sure look like OEM Mazda keys in the pic... Seen some TRW and Beck parts in the past that appear to be repackaged OEM sourced parts....

That is a good part number. Many on ebay and for $74 shipped.

Not listed as fitting a 74 but it sure looks like it would.
