Renesis Transplant

Has anyone thought much about stuffing a renesis into the REPU? Same engine size I think, and a whole lot of upgraded accessories too, but would it all fit? I should probably just get a 75 and transfer all the VINs to my 77 but that would be too easy. I've had this idea working its way up from the back of my mind, and now that the 77 isn't passing smog and nobody has the smog parts, the idea is starting to bubble up.

I don't see why not. I think the engine mounts might be different.
I think I saw a RX8 intake at least reviewing the pics of SEVENSTOCK on an RX2 at the rx7 club forum.
A nice factory crate motor would be just fine.
and nobody has the smog parts
The AIR pump has to feed the thermal reactor to "light it off" to eat the tailpipe emissions.Perhaps some creative plumbing?

Thinking of getting a salavage and transplant as much as possible. Sort of an RXPU. Funny you should mention air pump, I have an electric air pump I think from an rx8. I was thinking of putting it in the repu and using a relay connected to the ACV for controlling it. The old air pump tests fine at 2k rpm and puts out more air at higher but I think maybe the idle volume is a little low for passing smog. I got a bad rebuilt one from cardone, I don't recommend them. Only need to figure out how much air is coming out of that thing and if it steps up with rpm. Thats another project. I think I might have to get a temporary truck for the duration of the project, or just selling the 77 REPU I've had the last 19 years.
