Broken hood release, closed hood, no problem!

So today my REPU decided it didn't want me under the hood anymore. I pulled the hood release and got no response from the hood at all. I kept my clam, looked up the hood release in the parts manual, and got an idea of how it unlatched. Then looked around under the dash and found a 1.25" rubber plug dead center and just underneath the latch. I just knew the guys in Japan would come through for me! So I poked this plug up into the engine room and then hooked my finger through the hole. After about 20 seconds I found the lever the cable was supposed to be pulling on over towards the passenger seat side of the hole and then just pushed it towards the driver's seat. The hood popped right open! It turns out my cable simply slid out of the release lever on it's own. I re-inserted it and the rubber plug I pushed through and now it all works great again. Hopefully this helps someone out some day, I know my heart stopped the moment that lever came all the way forward the the latch didn't release.
