SoCal REPU breakfast meet & cruise pics. & vids.

Well, the 1st SoCal REPU breakfast meet & cruise was definitely a good time!

Tim, it was nice of you to bring and share with us your REPU painting. That is some work of art that your friend did on it, just amazing! Unfortunately, I didn't snap a shot of it, I didn't want to interrupt the conversation at the table, the conversation of Cadillacs, Mazda 3 brake pads, and why gas prices were so damn high! Hahaha lol...

Brad, cool that you showed-up "ROTARY POWER" this time instead of Isuzu power lol... Your REPU looks and sounds awesome! I like that oil injection set-up. Again, thanks for the alt.

Paul, nice meeting you and thanks for the tip on my RX-2.

Our initial meet point at Mimi's/Turners parking lot:

On our way to breakfast with Tim leading the way to Hidden Valley Golf Club:

I turned my engine off to record the RE5 idling and taking off. Damn, I was impressed and amazed at how it idled and sounded much better than my REPU hahaha lol...

painting,yes

Hi Max,

Yes it is a drawing by a great artist here in Riverside. I first displayed it at SEVENSTOCK 5 and it looks every bit as good today. I'm glad I had it professionally mounted behind good protective glass.

Michael Murphy is the Artist and he is just fantastic and reasonable. As he says it , He always tells a story with his paintings that a simple photograph just can't tell. He took the pictures and I decided which one to draw from. He drew in power line reflections in the hood, I had a new bed cover and he drew in the fresh vinyl folds etc.etc. SEVENSTOCK 5 archives have a great pic. of the display then.
Those interested contact me and I'll put you in touch.

box section bumper

Brad,

I didn't get to talk to you on your bumper. I was pointing out your rear leaf bushings to others and definately noticed the bumper. It looks light and strong. Is that a trick aluminum alloy all polished up?

YEah it's box all aluminum with angle aluminum brackets bolted to the square tube via stainless carriage bolts, just like the front bumper.

Hand made and trimmed but the scrapyard cut the square tube as I couldn't do it straight. It was a good project and can take a hit. I backed into my neighbor's fence and popped two boards out no problemo. Polish with rubbing compound. The handle on my garage door rubbed on it right in the center, need to buff that out.

I think the square tubing matches REPU body type well and since it's square theres less a chance of a car rolling up over it like a round bumper would do.

Aluminum isn't cheap but it's what I wanted. The steel one weighted 80lbs I think this one is 25.
