***UPDATE*** Still waiting as of April 31st. 2012...

Hey guys....little to no news to report on my Repu. Mechanic still working on the truck but he's doing it part time now since he's gotten a full time job. He can only work on it on weekends only. He's a great guy but I want my truck back so bad!

I have had few leads to other reputable mechanics close by me but it would be kind of mess up if I take the truck my original mechanic has been on to another mechanic. My question is...would the new mechanic know how to finish the unfinished work my original mechanic did?

Any feedback?

i wouldnt take it to another mechanic unless you feel the 1st mechanic is screwing you over. if you take it to a second mechanic he will try and convince you what a shit job the 1st mechanic did and want to perform that work all over again.

if the 1st mechanic is just taking long because he has limited time, i would leave it with him. if he is working on other peoples cars or he keeps asking you for more money and you dont see progress, i would take the car from him and cut my losses.

hope all that made sense.

Happy New Year guys!

Hey guys....been absent for a long time! How are everyone doing here????

Just a little update with my 74' Repu build. Truck will be coming back to me in few weeks but then its off to a shop to get a final tuned. That should be a week or so then will come back to my house where I can start putting everything back on, get dash board recovered, put in new carpeting, reupholster bench seat and head lining, purchase coilovers from Brad and install all suspension components, complete exhaust system, new rims or re-service oem wheels and new stereo system! See, its actually still has LOTS to do but at least it will be back in my arms after 14 mos of absent!

Will post pics when it gets home!

Hey guys, haven't been here for a while! Little update on my Repu....engine went in, started it and my mechanic just couldn't get it to tuned right but found out the rear housing had a hair line crack and wouldn't compression, So, new housing were purchased and just dropped it off at mechanic's place.

Photo below were taken this morning before he tears it down and rebuild it again! Hopefully this time around will be a good one! Fingers crossed!

Hey guys, just a little update on my 74' Repu. Exhaust system installed and sounded really good. Placed an order with Brad for his coilovers w/500 lb. spring rate. Also ordered Bilsteins front shocks, Monroe rear adjustable airshocks, about to order 2inch lowering block kit from Summit Racing.
Now, just need to wait til they all arrived then install begins!

Meantimes, still considering which set off wheels get. I'm leaning towards a set of old school punch out wheels with glossy black center with chrome trim rings.(15X8 -12 offset) on all 4 corners. Will run stagger tire size. I'm an old school kinda guy!

Also found headliner rods and believe this, found myself.....4 TAIL LIGHTS' TRIM RINGS in a "need to clean up" condition at a reasonable price!!!!

All and all.... still lots more to be clean and install but inching closer and closer to be completion!

I'm shooting for next meet with Brad, Tim, Paul and everyone else!

More updates to follow.....

Thanks for reading my post!!

Tim! 4 tail light trim rings???

Let me know if you don't need all 4. I will take any remaining off your hands.

Any chance the person you got the rings from has a front emblem or any trim/grill components?

What components did you choose for the exhaust?

I went with 2 NNB resinators, 2 NNB turbo mufflers, both hooked up with 2" piping all the through with dual chrome tips. Sounds great... rotary high pitch brap brap sound.. love it!

**Updates**

**Updates** 6-1-2013

Good morning guys, been absent for a bit because I was moving to a temporary home til I find myself another house.

Repu has been sitting for about 2 weeks now and I'd received all my suspension components including Brad's front coilovers. Will be installing them today after lunch. Will take before and after pics.....so excited about it and hope everything goes well. Tires will be next on the list.

Finally had a chance yesterday to stopped by J&J auto fabric store in Rialto to purchase my window channels and under hood foam seal. Thanks fo Adam (xp882) for providing all the necessary info. J&J's staff were excellent in service and very knowledgable as well! They also introduced an upholstery installer whom were shopping for one of his project to me and we chatted up a storm regarding my Repu. I think I found myself an upholstery shop to finish off my rig!

Pics to follow when of my suspension install....

Have a wonderful weekend guys!

Regarding upholstry, you can save yourself a few bucks by grabbing the carpet and floor mats for a ford courier on this site: http://www.lmcautocarpet.com/

1974 repu questions

Guys can someone help me out here.....I just bought a 1974 repu yellow....I'm noticing somethings that are weird. ...for instance. ...the bed doesn't have any hooks around the outside.... and the fenders have the little marker light next to the door instead of near the front.....is this original or is this just something someone did on their own....and if so how can I find the original hooks or a bed to replace them with.....Vic.
