Please support Pineapple Racing

Rob at Pineapple Racing is great. To give you an idea of his dedication to these trucks and to the rotary engine, I will share some of my experiences.

Rob owns two REPU's, one of which is his daily driver. He has recreated the front lower valance for our REPU's and has built some of the finest engines running, racing, etc. On his engine stand this Saturday was a, carbon fiber overlay (imagine a sticker that forms to the shape), N/A 20B set to push 450 h.p. without breaking a sweat. He has spent untold hours researching and developing every aspect of these unique motors. He has developed many performance parts that are not only extremely well built, but are made to the highest tolerances and standards.

On top of all of this he is openly willing to share his knowledge at anytime.

About 5 years ago I bought my 1974 REPU from a good friend, who bought it from a mututal friend of ours. This mutual friend had a large street ported 13b motor built by Rob at Pineapple Racing in 2000. (I have dyno slips showing 200+ h.p at the wheels) So when I bought the truck I called Rob to see if he could help me out. To say the least he has been very supportive. We've spent numerous hours on the phone discussing the engine and how to keep it tuned with my unique carb set-up. His advice has always been spot on and easy to understand. All of this to a person he had, until recently, never met and may never make any $$$ from.

My truck has been driven VERY HARD. I and the previous two owners have used it primarily for weekend bashing. Each of have also allowed it to sit outside, when not is use. At one time the truck hadnt driven for over a year. During which time the fuel cell seal failed allowing water into the fuel, fuel sytem, and ultimately into the motor etc.

After over 25000+ miles (very hard miles), as I had to use it as a daily driver for a year, the motor finally gave out. I know I personally overheated it on two occasions(2 broken belts). It got to the point where staring it would take up to 10 minutes. Again it sat outside for another year and a half.

So after many conversations with Rob, we came up with game plan... lets pull it apart and refresh that which needs to be and go from there. Yeah! No refresh was going to save it. We had all beaten the snot out of this poor motor. Time to build a new one.

After more conversations, we settled on building a bridge ported 4 port motor so that we could reuse my existing intake, carb, and exhaust etc. Luckily, (for my wallet) he had a few gently used housings and plates that could be safely refreshed and used to build my new NA motor. Rob had my new RB heat shield and header coated and had another local company rebuild the pressure plate into a dual spring (dual diaphram), re-puck the clutch, and completely rebuild a cast water pump. I also had him install a YooHoo belt.

Meanwhile, Ive ordered the 75-225 h.p. nitrous kit with purge etc, a new Holley blue fuel pump and regulator (stand alone fuel system), Weber carb rebuild kit, new carb float, MSD timing retard box (for nitrous use) to go with the MSD 6A, 20' of stainless fuel lines, and 6 AN hardware, etc.

SO, a few weeks later, I get the call. Motors ready, come on down. So Saturday morning I was off to Portland, OR. Keep in mind Pineapple Racing is closed on weekends. Met up with Rob and there it is. A beautiful new engine. We're hoping for 250-270 h.p. The proper intake would garner higher numbers, but Im going to use what I have for now.

So with that I ask that you please support Pineapple Racing in Troutdale (Portland), Oregon. Great shop. Great people. Great engines. www.pineappleracing.com 503-233-3878

There are a few pics in my photogallery Absolutjh

Now its time to get crackin'... and get the new motor and other components installed.

I am in Seattle, WA. Rob is a very reputable builder and had built the engine that was in the truck when I bought it. So I have continued and will continue to utilize his services.

you can check out my truck in the gallery Absolutjh and BradC.
