My old truck!!

So I just happen to be killing a little time on line while I'm home sick and I get the silly idea that I'll check out some old school rotary stuff.....as I'm a recovering roterhead I figure I'll just look. I do the typical google search and find this site, Next thing you know I'n cruising along in the gallery section and what do I see but My old repu!!! The truck listed as "Sweet REd repu" is my old truck. I found it down on the oregon coast while looking for a nice rx3 body for a killer 13b that Bill Burnham and I had just built. It was mostly stock when I got it and just super clean with a brand new interior and a fairly fresh 12a out of a wrecked low mile 82 rx7.
The 12a went into a 75 repu I had with a popped Dan Kady motor in it and my big bridge port slid right into the engine bay. This gave me a "driver" in the 75, and a hot rod with the red one. next stop was Charlies drop shop for some cut A frames and de-arched leaves for the back. Top this off with a 1.25 addco bar for the front,a .75 addco bar for the rear and the already sweet weight dist. of the repu and I had a insane handling truck. Off to Les Schwab for the latest ARE wheels and stickyest Toyo's I could get.
15x7's with a 205 50 15 in the front and 15x8's in a nissan pathfinder 4x4 offset in the rear so they fit under the fenders and let me get a 225 50 15 on the rear.
I drove that truck dailey from 90 to 93 or so before I miss-guidedly sold it to a "buddy".
I miss that truck and am glad it belongs to someone who is at least into it and understands what it is.
I've since moved onto Unimog's and vintage Mercedes cars and just when I think the rotary bug has gone I catch myself thinking that if I just happened across a clean repu or rx3 wagon it would be really easy to fall headfirst off the wagon and become a drooling rotorhead once again.

Great story!

Always cool to get a bit of the history...

Mercedes, eh? Where were you when my friend had to get rid of his '57 project...

Guess you must dream about the C-111 on occasion, huh?
