Drum Brakes?!!

My 74 rotary pick has drum brakes on it. Is that something that Mazda did to some of the rotary pickups? When I was talking to the guy I got my rotary pickup from he was telling about some people that looked the truck over and they told him that Mazda never put drums on these little pickups. They also said something about how they think it might be a ford courier frame under the rotary pickup.

If this is true, would I be able to use the 77 rotary picks frame on/for my 74 rotary pickup. I can tell that the cab is a little bit longer on the 77 then the 74 does this mater?

Did Mazda ever put drum brakes on any rotary pickups?

You should have drums on the rear, discs on the front. All rotary pickups had that configuration. And yes, it's the same frame, but the front is different.

Can't answer the 77/74 question. Not sure how they got that extra length. repuguru is the man there.

If you have front drums, then someone in fact did swap in the front clip from a courier. I'd check for damage to that front end.

nm, I looked after posting this, and found out that it does have disks in front. Don't ask me why the guy I picked up th truck from was thinking it had drums in front. =|

http://www.porterfield-brakes.com/ R4S compound for 1st gen (non-GSL-SE) are a very very good pad. I'll never use a lesser pad again! Lots of grabbing and torque. Rotor friendly. Brake dust is non-corrosive and will clean off nicely.

Carbon/Kevlar

Usually $90 for the fronts.

Again, you get what you pay for!
