Clicky-Clack Brakes

Hey all,

one long standing issue I've had with the truck is the front brakes making a clicky-clack sound when moving. It increases with speed, and seems to come from both the left and right side in alternating fashion. I suspect the PO replaced the brakes and didn't put a pin or spring back in. Does anyone have a set of these, no local shop has a clue... or does anyone have a clue on what else could be causing the noise?

One more thing... the sound immediately stops when I touch the brakes, so I don't think it's the lug nuts. Plus I've had the wheels off a number of times.

Does it have the brake pad shims installed?

Install a new brake hardware kit with the spring that causes both pads to expand. And the shiny metal things that hold the pad to the brackets.

If the metal shims that go between the caliper and bracket are worn then the caliper will rattle. Anyone have a part number for these?

Lastly, installing the anti-squeak plates onto the pads is supposed to REALLY help with squeak and squeal. I'm doing that this week as it turns out. Never knew they are taped to the pads, I've always had ones that pop off.

Missing Shims

Hey Guys,
Does anyone have a set of (what I believe are missing) shims on the front brakes?

Thanks Brad, I have that kit and the shims, what I don't have is the piece that sits in that cut-out, to prevent the pads from moving up and down, thus causing the click clack sound.

These are the photos of the two kits from RockAuto,

This is the kit for the RX-8, I'm looking for those little metal 'hardware' shims/clips/thingies that hold the pad in place rotationally..

Amazon Prime

Found out if you take the part number from RockAuto and paste it into Amazon, they typically have the part. In the case of these callipers, they did, it was cheaper by a few bucks, and free shipping (since I have Prime)

Hi Dan,

Don't know if you ordered the complete caliper kit but I found this on eBay.
