Remove the cross shaft from the lower control arms?
I always thought you just pushed it one direction to expose one end between the two control arm pivot mounts and then the cross shaft would pivot enough to slide it out of the other pivot mount hole.
Seems like mine is to big around to have enough pivot to remove it.
The shop manual doesn't really tell how, but does have a good picture of the entire front assembly. The bushings should drive out either end then the shaft should fall out. Since the bushings are shot and going to get replaced, maybe a little heated pursausion might help. If you end up tearing something up, let me know, I have some spare lower control arms.

To do it right they really need to be pressed out.
They're in there real tight and don't wanna come out. I finally got mine out but damaged the shaft in the process and am looking for a repalcement. Drilled and heated the bushings until they complied. Trimmed the shaft where the bolt holes are, just a little around the outer edges.
Then block of wood and 2.5lb mallet on the shaft.
