Who has the ADDCO rear sway bar and how do you like it?

Did the truck handle better? Did it increase oversteer? Is it a good quality piece?

I have the Addco bars on the front and rear of my truck. I had the green T2 powered truck with the faded paint at SS7. The front is 1" with poly bushings and makes a huge difference. The rear is 3/4" and in rubber bushings at this time. It mounts rather easily to the frame. You have to drill two holes in each side of the frame and fish a big u-bolt through. Then a plate, the bar and u-clamp mounts it up. A bracket wraps around the leaf spring and attaches the end-links. I like it, and the truck corners very flat. It still needs a LSD. Obviously a rear bar will increase a tendency to lift an inside rear wheel so it helps to have the big front bar.

I don't suppose...

...Addco would like to 'sponsor' members of this forum by offering a quantity-purchase discount on multiple full sets of front-and-rear, urethane-bushed bars...?

Full kit

I called them today. They sold me a kit for 210.00, no shipping. But I think its because the kit is red. They first told me 247.00 but because this is a red kit its cheaper. Red is great with me cause the truck is red. If I don't like it I can always paint it black. 37.00 is 37.00 expecially if it stays in my pocket.

Questions answered

I hope it arrives via UPS today, once I get it in my grubby little paws I'll be able to tell more about it. I'll keep everyone posted. In the mean time does anyone have a decent bumper center section I could send off to have re-chromed and straightened. The spare I thought I had has too much rust, and the other one, some moron drilled holes in to mount fog lights. I think Ken is going to help me out on a fender section, and I have a spare hood, grill, and valance. Now just 1k in paint and I'll be back to where I started 2 weeks ago.

Bars are here

Well they came in today, ordered Monday rec'd Thursday. Attached is a link to the pic on the MSN site. Looks like they should work. Only thing I am worried about is my new exhaust where it goes over the rear and this rear bar mounts. I hope there is not a conflict.

some moron drilled holes in it

Hey, if the bumper looks good other than the holes, just cut off some bumper bolts and install them in the holes, except for you, no one will notice, run it till you come across a good one.

Know what you mean...

...I have one or two of those 'moroned' center sections myself... of course, you could always re-mount some driving/fog beams in those holes...

Front bar on

Got the front bar on in about 20 minutes. Looks like I'll have to wait till a better day when I can mount the rear. Holes have to be drilled in the frame to mount the bar to.

Rear bar a little harder

Well it took me about 2 hours to install the rear bar. Had to cut the exhaust off (it was in the way), I'll get it fixed Monday. Then had to drill the holes in the frame. Not too hard just close quarters with the axle and springs in place. New pics posted on the MSN website. All the body work is done just need to get the new bumper from Dave in Maryland and I'll be back good as new. Also installed the new shocks and tires today. I'll let everyone know how it handles after I drive it on Monday.

after some measurements

the addco rear bar won't fit my repu. i have a big magnaflow muffler behind the axel. BUT there are other ways to design and mount a sway bar. mainly have it go up and over the top of axel and then down forward to mount to frame. I was at willow springs raceway yesterday and talked to the owner or 7s Only Racing and he said he can use oval track adjustable sway bars and fab up a rear bar.

ALSO he said there's a lot of room back there to fab up a panhard rod or preferrably a watts link. I'll look into that when the time comes......
