what size diameter are the stock tires?
I need to compare diameter vs. the 245/50/15's I have on there. See what the speedo difference is.
Thanks,

Stock Tires
Hi Brad,
Klaus has an original, unused, Bridgestone "Skyway Deluxe" I believe, you might get him to measure it for you.

The stock size tire mounted on the 74 repu is 7.35 x 14. All of the info I researched into this is that the tire is an 82 aspect size. In metric about 185/82/14 or 25.9 inches. A 245/50/15 is about 24.6 inches in diameter. Better to use a 16 inch rim.

I can confirm...
...that the stock 'Skyway Deluxe' un-worn total exterior diameter exceeds 25". (It's still stuck up under the truck in question, rusty spare mechanism soaking in penetrating lube, so it's a quick and dirty tape measurement...) Hope this helps... :)

cool
Klaus, when the tire drops if you can take an exact measurement that would help.
tire measurements from manufacturers or on tirerack.com vary based on rim size. They say 245/50/15 on 15x7 is 24.6, but when I mounted same tire on 15x8 the diameter is exactly 24.0"

...and then there's a degree of expansion...
...when temperatures and RPM's combine... (like when dragsters leave the starting line)...

What size tire would you run on a 16x8, stock suspension.
Thanks

Since they vary a bit from manufacturer to
...manufacturer, the real key is to go as wide/tall as you want, without body/chassis interference at the extremes of any and all possible conditions...
Beware the 'standard' 8" rim's offset --relative to what won't crash your front fenders under hard cornering!
