Just like the subject says I need a dome light for a 74 REPU.

I think I know a source

Ford Escorts from the early 90's and maybe into the mid 90's had a trunk light for the non-hatchback cars. If I am not mistaken that little light cover is the same one as our REPU. It looks the same, as I have pulled one out and looked at it.
I don't remember if it has the tabs to clip it to the light housing.
But not all REPU's I have encountered had the ones with tabs either. Some were held in place with a little piece of sprung steel that was mounted to the light housing.

Thanks Guru for the info, but i need the whole fixture not just the cover.Seems as though someone needed the whole light or they had trouble with it.I just have 2 wires sticking out of the headliner.

Indeed, thank you!

...might stand to reason if the cover's the same, that the unit itself is also identical, or really close to... (?)

Hey Klaus it may be the same but i doubt it would have the 3 position switch on it.If it were a trunk light it may just come on with the trunk opening, but may not have ON,DOOR,OFF setting I would think the right light assembly would have.Just a thought.I am going to check out the light anyway at a junkyard.

dome light

In the past few weeks I have surveyed a junkyard that has quite a few B1800 and Couriers. I remembered this thread that some people were looking for them and I took everyone off including the switch and light. Let me know who needs them. I went back up there today and got some more of them. I think the very early b2000 series used them also.

Sounds good. Let me know how much you'd want for one and I'll see what I can do.

THanks!

dome light location

Is the dome light just above and to the left of the drivers head? Its about 2 inch's wide and 1 inch high. This dome light is the same one that my 77 has, but I wonder if the earlier trucks had a different one in a different location.

I upgraded mine to a console from an RX-4 with the bigger dome lighe, dual reading lights and 3 red indicator lights (door ajar, etc, etc). I never liked the limited amount of light the original put out...

It fits like it was factory made for it.

I installed a second dome light on the passenger side, same location as stock (just above the shoulder belt mount). Using a spare dome light I got at junkyard.

Wired it up with bigger than stock 10 gauge wire and ran the power to the fuse box behind passenger seat and BOY does she light up the cab. Really sweet and both lights go on when either door is opened. And either light can be flipped on individually using it's switch.

Looks stock too.
