Welcome!

Welcome to the club!

These are things we are all looking for.

There are now 4 of us who are looking for the lower valance...

I'm looking for a dash solution too

We should really organize a group-buy on some of these. Fiberglass lower valance, and maybe glass dash, to be covered by you in your vinyl of choice...

Is there already a source for these parts and we're just trying to get enough ppl together for a group buy? If so where?

From my understanding, there is little to no source for REPU parts less the engine/brake replaceables. Let's face it guys, with a total production run of maybe 15000 units, take away the accident totals, rusted away hulks, and stashed away unknowns, we're on our own. There is probably 3000+/- units at best left in the world, and no company is going to produce squat for us. If we want it, we need to get together and produce it. Body panels are only getting harder and harder to get, because if we get an original part, some other truck is now off the road for good.

Those of us that need the parts, we need to get together and make them. We need to find out what we have and what we need and make a plan to help each other get as many of our cars back in show/running condition because it is the only way to each get what we need.

Remember guys, we are the only ones who are going to help each other, The cavalry is NOT on the way.

With that Said...

With that said, I think I'm ready to do Fiberglass replacement parts. I would like to start with door panels, then maybe the front vailance. However, I will need a vailance in good condition to get a mold.

If all goes well, I would be able to start selling parts for the REPU... I'm going to test my door panel ability (in fiberglass, then overlay vinyl) this weekend...

Why do this in FG? look at what the origional panel's did with the fiber board underneath! I want something that can withstand a little water... a good polimer resin should do the trick.

That's why I asked. I didn't think there were any aftermarket/repro parts available.

I *SO* far away from being in the position to so anything right now as I'm still trying to get my first REPU, but I've had an interest fabricating FG panels for a while. Interior panels primarily, but from there who knows. The only thing I can promise is that once I get my hands on a REPU of my own that I can work on, any parts I manage to produce for myself, I'll try to make/retain moulds for in the event other ppl might be intersted.

Rotary, Are you going to do the "inside" door panel? If so, I need a set too. The PO cut those ^%$#ing speaker holes in mine.

I want to try the lower valance. Mine is not too bad off to try to hammer out and make a mold. I am going to tinker with it in my spare time (I have 4 engine rebuilds on backlog). My composite capablility is a bit rusty, but I think I can do a decent job, and hell, it should be fun

I definately would like to get in on a group buy for the valance..I need one cause mine has been through hell.. Has anyone ever taken off their dash? I think it was welded on but if it could be taken out I could get so much more rust eliminated and possibly have one made out of fiberglass or carbonfiber.....

"Me too"!

...obviously I'm not first in line for that tailgate...but of course, it is one of those parts very hard to find straight--so I would be interested as well. It's high time I got a comprehensive list together of the parts I have/parts I still need! Sure enough, we are the REPU cavalry...and the other side's among us even now, in the form of anyone who would rather try to make a buck on parting otherwise complete, restorable REPU(s)... but of course, we all need certain parts... Just four of us for a valance? I doubt it! Probably way more like 40, if we got it together to have them actually available... If you figure at least twice as many guys out there own a REPU as are currently on this forum, well... would that be a bad guesstimate? Time for a REPU census!

mass email

Seeing that we have our email address on our mazdarepu.com profile, is there any way to send a mass email out to all members on this forum asking if anyone would like to do group buy on lower valance?

We can also post on the rx7club.com and I can post on the 1st gen rx7 list

As a matter of fact, yes, there is a way I can do it.

I would like to first make sure we have the following:
1. a good valance
2. someone to do a mold

With that said... On the other thread, we have 15 members ready to buy.

I'm going to close this thread, please use THIS THREAD for all updates.
