Rear Taillight Lens Gaskets

I was able to acquire (supposedly) the last NOS taillight lens gasket from Mazda. At least my dealer told me it was the last one. I am considering having a die shop make me a die to cut copies of it. I have already secured the rubber sheeting, just a hair thinner than stock rubber, and I mean a hair. Would anyone be interested in buying copies of the gasket for like $5-7 each to help offset the cost of the die (somewhere around $150-200)? I am also planning on having dies made for the sidemarker lens gaskets as well. Interested?

Neal.

tail light gasket

I`m working on rubber reproductions with Ken, I have a NOS gasket that he is going to use for a mould, it may be cheaper and more accurate than what you are working on, we should all get together on this and find the most cost effective and accurate way to do reproduce lens gaskets

About those gaskets...

I am working with Craig on making some taillight gaskets. I am designing the mold now. I pour them out of a rubber mixture. I used polysulfide rubber for the previous gaskets and it worked great. I plan on trying a butyl-rubber for the taillights. My method is slow, but produces exact copies. It works for me, but is poorly suited to mass production. The Tailight gasket is a very simple design and can be made rather easily in a variety of ways. I may make four molds so I can pour a set in a single pass.

The original designed marker light gasket is a bit more complex as it is designed to wrap around the housing and seal both the light lens and insulate/seal the housing to truck body. It looks like a great canditate for injection molding. It too can be relatively easy to make on a low volume basis.

As I make my own gaskets, I will opt out of pitching in for a die, but I am very interested in lots of other parts. I also have an old guy near me who owns a specialty obsolete gasket business at his house, and probably could spit us out a zillion for a lot less than we could. He just programs his cnc cutter and out they come. I would have to have numbers to get his interest.

Front turn signal gaskets...

Please?!? Those are totally unavailable as well...and ride close to the ground, directly in the headwind...and rain.
Great ideas, guys...let's get 'em all repro'd and available!

Turn Signal Gaskets....

They are designed just like the marker lights. The mold is a bit of a challenge, but once complete, the can be made quite easily. The key to any of them is getting a good gasket to copy. And so the story goes.....
