1975 REPU parts

There is a repu parts truck in Oceanside Ca at ecology auto wrecking. Bed is in good shape. I already grabbed the rotor caps on the wheels, combo switch, rear bumper, tail lights and will probably go back for some other stuff, tail gate. Some idiot put in a 4 banger. All glass is good, rear slider in back. It's been at the yard for about 3 weeks and stuff moves through it real quick. Reply if your looking for some parts.

Why yes, I need parts...Don't we all?

I could use a good battery latching/locking inner hinge door, a right front headlight chrome trim and a decent set of visors.

Interior parts aren't that great and grill is toast. No gas cap. It looks like someone rebuilt the whole battery box out of plate steel

Hi Tom,
I'll check out the prop for you. I can't remember if the truck has the prop or the torsion spring for support. That picture of your truck at 7-stock with the 2x4 was halarious. By the way, My first REPU was a red 74 with a 6-port with the dellorto carb. I really liked it. Great torque and it would pull hard to 8k on the tach. If you guys have more Q's on the parts you can email if you want. anderson28@cox.net
Thanks, Scott

cool, thanks. I didnt realize there were different hood supports available, are they interchangable? If so I could care less which one I get.

I wish my REPU pulled hard all the way through 8000rpm, my extra restrictive exhaust just chokes it after about 5k, gives me damn good torque though! I am also running way too rich, I want to get my exhaust built before I re-jet that Weber.

These things have a a hood prop??

Wow. I just have a big darn spring in my hood. THe hood practically raises itself when I pop the latch. Its almost perfectly balanced, can close it with finger pressure too. I am *NOT* looking forward to taking hta tspring our and putting it back in when I take hte hood off to sandblast the underneath.

Speaking of which, does anyone one know what sort of putty they use between the structural supports and hte sheet metal under the hood? Was thinging of pulling that old stuff out and replacing it so I cuold catch some of that rust under the structural supports.

Under hood sealant

I use Polysulfide marine sealant. It is very tough and lasts forever, and takes paint well. It does not shrink, so the paint won't crack. You can get it at marine stores and at good autobody and paint supply stores.

Thanks!

I have to get a handle on the bed and floorboards first but I'll be shooting the truck in pieces and didn't want to cut any corners, so when it comes time to do the hood I was afraid I'd have to work around that old stuff.

Hi Brad and Tom,
I went to the junkyard today and and grabbed some pidley stuff. It looks like the hood props are not interchangable. The 74 REPU I used to have had the prop and the 77 has the spring torsion rod. The later models have a bracket for the spring rod welded in front of the radiator. Also, the hood hinges are different. I did not get the tail gate after all. It's in good shape but I guess the one on my truck isn't much worse. The junkyard is Ecology Auto wrecking. From I-5 in Oceanside take HWY 76 East to bennet road, about 3 miles. The phone number there is 760-757-7770. The prices are good. I got the tail lights and beauty rings for 5.00 each. Good luck, Scott.

So my hood has this little bracket about 6 inches long on the drivers side that folds and locks back into place. That is broken, is this what you describe as the hood prop or is it part of the version with the spring?
