You can buy a steering centerlink
Today I talked to the shop that lengthened my new MOOG steering centerlink so it'll work on REPU. As we all know, there are no new ones available that bolt up to REPU as they're all spec'd for B1600 and Courier and too short.
The shop would be happy to do more so if you want one now's the time. No group buy price, asked, sorry. I'm passing this on to help the REPU community at large.
Here's the deal. You ship a MOOG steering centerlink part number ES2414 to European Motorworks and they'll lengthen it for you for $100.00 + shipping. Call European Motorworks and ask for JORGE. We've only tried it with MOOG brand part number ES2414 so that's what they're setup for and what I recommend. Moog is top of the line and this link has a greaseable ball joint where it hooks up to the pitman arm whereas stock does not so it's a nice serviceable upgrade. You can buy it from rock auto here: http://www.rockauto.com/dbphp/prt,11,ES2414 for $78.79 plus shipping.
They're doing one for ovquick very soon, so if you can get your order into them in the next week that would make things easier on the shop.

Jorge expects to get an extra $50 per link because of the price increase on 2 feet of DOM Steel? That's ridiculous.

Pricey? Somewhat, but if he had quoted me the 150.00 instead of the 100.00 I would have still sent it down to him.
Why? The average machine shop rate is 60 to 65 an hour. If you take your original part to a shop for a one off repair, they will first build a fixture to hold and align the part for successful repair ( cost about 60 for labor 40 for material 100 total, they will own the fixture) The repair will cost 100 (about 60 for labor and 40 for materials and shipping) or 200 dollars total.
You could do it yourself, but keep in mind you'd be welding on a forging, not just a plain cast or machined part.
Just my opinion.Just get yourself a very good estimate, better would be a bid as estimates are exactly that.
