74 for sale

I've got a 74 Repu I'd like to sell to a good home. It's got a 13b, RB header, Rx-7 5 spd, RB aluminum flywheel(from 84 Rx-7), centerforce clutch, 48 Deloroto, new tires. Engine was resealed in Oct 2001 but still smokes at idle. Only driven 200-300 miles since reseal. Green with white camper shell. Body straight but has some surface rust here and there due to sitting outside for the winter. $2k/obo. Email or call (650)580-6729. I have a couple of pictures I can email if needed. I'm in the San Francisco/Bay Area.
Thanks,
Dave

sounds like it could be nice...

...so were the side housings not lapped properly when the engine was re-sealed? Who did the work? Is the 13B the 'proper' early model 4port? (Capital letters 'MAZDA' on rotor housings)... How many miles on the odometer? On the motor? Is there any chance this motor was run without the air filter in place--could it have inhaled something? And how is the interior of your REPU? Sounds like it could be a real nice one...! Do post pix if you can! Thanks!

It has the correct "tall port" 4-port 13b. I resealed it myself and no, I did not have the housings lapped. I just wanted to get it going. I thought the engine was ok when I first got it and being it was the only transportation I had at the time, I did a quick reseal so I could drive it. I thought I'd have the time to properly restore it but I may be moving out of state so that forces the sale.
The oil metering device is constantly flowing even with the linkage disconnected so that may be the problem and also, I may have not given it enough time to break in. I have old receipts for a factory replacement in 1980 and a rebuild in 1997, so no, the engine is not orginal. The odometer only goes to 99,999 but the previous owner told me the chassis has at least 190,000 on it. Doesn't look like it to me but who knows.
Interior is pretty clean, previous owner custom built a gauge cluster where the radio was. I don't know how to post pictures here so I'd have to email them.

Does sound nice!

...if I had an extra couple'a grand lying around, and a few days off, I'd be making the drive down from OR. to take a look at your REPU. Sounds like a good starting point for a nice build! Is the frontend 100% straight? That lower valance/air intake is SO hard to find un-crumpled...
Thanks for the info! Hope a devoted rotorhead finds you.
