1974 REPU Turbo 2 powered for sale

It is with great reluctance that I have decided to sell my 1974 Repu. I have owned this truck since May 1986. It currently resides in CA. During my ownership it has never seen snow and rarely driven in the rain. I credit this vehicle for my career choices working as a technician for a Mazda dealership and now ultimately for Mazda corporate.
I installed a 87 Turbo 2 engine about 7 years ago in the truck. It has the stock PCM and wiring harness and was not cut up during installation. The intake is a 3" system that moves the MAF sensor towards the firewall as there is no room for a air filter in a stock location. The exhaust has a 80mm downpipe(3"+) and a 3" exhaust with a magnaflow muffler. The truck is quiet with a very sporty sound. Has a fuel cut defenser. At sea level boost is about 9-10lbs but will hit 14lbs on cool days or in higher gears. Has a boost gauge and air/fuel gauge in dash where the ash tray used to be. Intercooler is stock and I have not cut a hole in the hood. This engine has been very reliable with no problems at all. The transmission is a 5 speed ribcase from a RX-4 with a T2 bellhousing. Rear gears are 3.90
Suspension is lowered 1 1/2" in front and 2" in rear, with KYB gas-adjust shocks. New upper ball joints, idler arm,all four tie rods, rebuilt calipers, master cylinder. Has Addco 1" front bar mounted in urethane and 3/4" bar for the rear currently removed. Steering wheel is wooden Mazda Cosmo three spoke. Rest of interior ok, only 1 dash crack, door panels uncut and headliner good. Carpet fair, and bench seat needs redone. WHeels are 15x7 aluminum slotted mags.
Perfect front valence, good bumper, and the only real rust on the truck is in the front cab floor corners and fresh air intakes. Bed does not have rust and neither do the doors or fenders. No rear bumper.
This vehicle is very quick - runs high 13 second quarter miles at over 100mph.
What it needs: The paint is a cheap enamel paint over 23years old. It is badly faded and is starting to flake in the bed. It is not coming back even with buffing and needs repainting. The engine has a very small oil leak from the o-ring and main seal.
Spares: 99% rust free desert cab. Purchased to replace the one on this truck. RF fender, 77 hood. Spare grill and end pieces. 2 oil coolers. Turbo 2 transmission and driveshaft.
I thought I would try this site before e-bay. I am asking $8500 for the truck and all of the spares. Located in southern CA. You can call Paul at 951-245-2907 after 6:00pm pacific time. I will take any pictures you want for interested parties and e-mail them to you. Truck is Green with a white stripe down the sides with a black and white interior. I tried to add a picture but was unsucessful.

The swap is time consuming but do-able. A JDM engine should work. You need the original oil pan and front cover of the old engine and you will need to drill and weld the turbo drain into the old front cover. Depending on the transmission you use you might have to change the flywheel or the clutch. You need a throttle cable from the truck and a Turbo 2 engine. You need to decide if you want stock EFI or a stand alone. The MAF will not fit in the stock location as there is no room for an air filter. You have to cut 2 holes in the firewall to route the wiring to the PCM. You need a bigger fuel feed line and an external high pressure fuel pump. A sump for the fuel tank would be preferable. Otherwise under hard acceleration you will fuel starve under 3/8 of a tank. The turbo barely clears the right frame rail. The advantage is a whole lot more power and about the same fuel economy. I get 20MPG.
