1975 REPU For Sale - Great Condition!

I'm selling a 1975 brown Mazda rotary PU. I'm told it might be the original 1974-1/2 model. It's very clean: about 60k miles, engine completely rebuilt about 15k miles ago, seat reupholstered, headliner is original and has about a 12" tear, radio is not original but everything else is. I installed an electronic ignition but have all the original parts. Have new, never opened dashboard for it. Door gaskets are quite new but need to be reglued.

Been in the desert almost all it's life, so hardly any rust. Original paint in excellent condition. Has shallow dent behind driver's door. Has been garaged for two years and ran fine before that. I run it every few months but haven't driven it any distance recently.

I think this will get you to the photos (Chucks REPU album):

It's garaged at a house that's being sold in Oakhurst, CA (north of Fresno), so must move it by end of Sept/early October 2007. What am I offered?

Updated Info on Chuck's REPU

I've had quite a few inquiries - some asking for more pictures and info. So I went to the storage garage, uncovered & washed it and took more pictures. (I had to cut the photo resolution due to uploading problems to this site.)

I hadn't driven it for several years, so my memory has now been refreshed on details I had forgotten.

Body: There is a small dent over the windshield in addition to the scrape behind the driver's door I mentioned previously. The rest of the car has normal dings and the bed has clearly been used. There is some discoloration under the tailgate (see photo) - perhaps rust, but certainly not very deep.

Interior: From the driver's door photo you can see the original carpet (worn), re-upholstered seats (excellent condition, headliner tear and dangling driver's door gasket. This was a new Mazda gasket but I was an inexperienced gluer and it didn't stick. Another photo shows two new Mazda replacement gaskets that can be installed (passenger door also needs one). The windshield photo shows the cracked dash - I have a new replacement in original box. The radio is a blaupunkt with speakers installed in the doors.

Engine & Tags: This truck has 90k miles on it. The engine, a 13B, was rebuilt by Rotary Specialties (Bakersfield, CA) at 48k miles. It starts fine, even when it hasn't been run for a while. The pix show the electronic ignition but I have the original parts.

The vehicle has been in my family since it was purchased from the dealer and has been in the S. Calif desert except for the last few years when it has been stored in a garage. So significant rust is a non issue. California registry as a non-op vehicle.

Is it road-worthy? When I garaged it, I was driving it around in it all the time - but bought a new truck. The tires are Michlein with lots of tread still on them. The belts and hoses look fine - they were all replaced with the rebuild, if not later. But I can't promise there's not a weak piece of rubber somewhere that might give-out.

I'm still trying to figure out what it's worth. I'm busy selling the property where it's housed, but will pick a price by the end of Sept or take the best offer I have at that time.

Chuck

That's a mighty fine looking REPU.

I think that Craig ("straightrepu") sold his restored 74REPU a couple years ago for $10k. Guy from San Diego bought it. I was ready to pay that for it at the time, too.

I hope you get a good price for that original REPU. It's worth it.

Umm, err...:

My recollection is that Craig's truck brought about $7,500. - $8 K -- thought I could be mistaken. Other *pristine* examples have gone for about that. (Would that they were more highly valued!)

Wondering: You're more than welcome to create your very own pic album/upload your pic's to 'my' little MSN-Group, MazdaRotaryEnginePickup -- If you'd like/if you find it easier, and/or helpful to do so. Though I'm not likely in the market, I too am curious to see your pic's... ;)

BTW: If you'd be willing to sell that 'new, never opened' Dash (pad included, I take it?) for it seperately... I might be your buyer (Dibs!), pending pricing/availablity, of course--. DO let me know! Thanks!!!

Dash Board and Pics

Buyer of the REPU will get first crack at the dash board - when I find it! Then after that, those in the order of inquiry.

For pix, click on "photo gallery" above and then select "Chuck's REPU" or go to:
http://www.mazdarepu.com/Gallery/index.php3?album=Chucks+REPU

Thanks for asking!
