interior water leak

I have 2 rotary pickups and several friends that have the same problem. When it is raining out I get water leaking down inside the cab along both of the kick panels. The water then puddles up on the floor where your feet are. This water I don't believe is coming from a bad windshield seal. The leak doesn't happend when the nose of the pickup is pointed down hill. I also think this problem to be very common since I know of at least 4 pickups having the same problem. I think it is coming from the shelf that holds the brake proportioning valve and wiper motor. The tar rubber seal/sound deadening is all cracked and it is hard to figure out where the leak is coming from. I was thinking of cleaning the area and then spraying in bed liner rubber to absolutely seal the area. Has anyone resolved this leak issue before.

Jeff

Two places to check besides the firewall shelf. The fresh air intake doors usually leak very badly and the other place is make sure the inner fender wells are not rusted at all because that will also let in water. Hope that helps. Paul.

Hello,

I had that problem, and I thought it was coming from the
shelf in the engine compartment also, but when it would leak I would look on the shelf and it would not always have water on it or even look like it had been wet.
So I pulled up on the windshield rubber and put sealer/silicone between the body and the rubber seal. And did the same between the glass and the rubber seal.
Do it all the way around the windshield.

Worked on my courier.

I fought exactly this problem, and the prior owner did also. The truck leaked until the floor rusted a hole and the water would drain out.
I finally got inside with a sprinkler going outside and tracked the leak down to the windshield wx strip. It was almost impossible to see, since the water would run down the inside of the firewall, behind the kickpanels, and onto the floor. I used "flowable" silicone sealer around the outside of the wxstrip, and that finally stopped the leak.
This past winter, my Repu stayed completely dry inside. I think this is a very common problem with our trucks, judging by all the questions.
Thanks,
Jim
