just came across this thread...

i took the original kick panels out of mine and cut out some new ones out of 1/8" masonite. i recovered them in just plain black vinyl. there isn't a cut out behind there to mount a speaker flush, so you would need to use a pod (like your q-logic) and build it out.

i dont think you'll find too many guys who've attempted to put a full system in their trucks here. most seem to be purists and prefer to keep their repus in pretty close to stock condition. for those of us who aren't willing to pay top dollar for oem parts, there are a rare few good examples of what to do. one of the difficulties is getting a modern DIN radio into the center stack: there isn't enough depth for the newer radios and requires you to cut up (and out) the console. you can try to find a decent old school shaft radio that fits... there are bunch out there, but i've found pioneers to work pretty well. alpines are just a bit too deep for the back unless you cut or pound out some of the sheet metal back there.

there is just enough room behind the bench to get a 1/4" sheet of wood and a couple of small amps and a crossover back there if you want to mount them pretty. measure over and over to make sure. the back of the cab is single layer sheet metal, so i dont advise drilling or mounting to that.
under the seat is ok, but i hate mounting amps there.

everyone hates to cut door panels, but you have enough depth there to get a decent 6-1/2" or 6x9 speaker in the lower front corner.

i dont know how anyone can get a sub in there... if you have any good ideas, i'd be interested to see.

I have custom door pods with Pioneer 6.5" mid-bass, 4" mid, and 1.5" tweeters, and a self-powered 6" Audiobahn Bass-tube where the heater fan used to be. I power the mids with an Audiobahn 4 channel digital amp. The head unit is a Pioneer in-dash CD with a Pioneer INNO-1 XM unit attached and an iPhone dock for charging and using the ipod functions.
