Seat belt questions

Hey guys,

I have some questions about my seat belts in the 74.I know I read somewhere that these were really short for what ever reason form the factory as mine are,but mine also seem to be different. I am not a small guy at 6'-1" 250lb,so as you can see getting the belt on it really hard to do.I can get it clipped in,but I cannot move in my seat much more than a couple inches forward.I hate not wearing the belt, and it is the law in MA,so I fight with it to comply. I was wondering though if maybe my belts were changed,as the part down by the seat is molded plastic, and doesn't have the old school "M" logo in the rotor on the face like I have seen in pics of other trucks. If remember right the other trucks I have seen in pics also had flexible web material like a seat belt leading to the clip on the base part of the seat unlike my molded units. If I have some different belts, does anyone have the normal factory style ones for sale? I don't even care if they are short like the ones I have. Thanks

Mornin', Chris --

Sounds like you have later model belts installed, at least in part. The stock ones really can be a PITA; if not for shortness, then for slippage from the adjusted length, (for example, when tightened up for autocross, etc.), and/or for having the buckle drop into the door jamb at the least helpful moment... for example.

I don't have a set for sale at this time, but I *will* keep you in mind, if and when I do! Bear in mind, they are also hard to come by in 'near pristine' condition... most feature the usual wear, scrapes, and even rust...

Chris,

I bought some aftermarket belts with auto-tensioner that fit great and stay tight. Just search the forum, price was reasonable too. Only had to drill new holes for the auto-tensioner contraption, everything else bolted in.

I went to the junkyard and took them off a courier, they work great and are a nice upgrade got them both for $45 and i made the holes on the bottom and used a fender washers on both sides of studd for strength, hated the stock ones. I kept the ends with the old school emlem and are gonna have the male ends takin off and wielded onto the courier straps. But right now the belts work great,
