Probably fine...

...unless and until you need something to hold you down for autocross... retractables suck for that!

84 B2000 belts

Brad, I put the belts from my 84 B2000 in the old flatbed. They are great. When I got Red from Mark, it had some retractables in it that were bolted to the floor. I moved them to the side behind the seat and they work great. You might check the local yards for a set, before you spend 80-90 for a set. I'm just cheap Plus I like the Mazda emblems on them. Good luck and keep us up to date. C

I have a set of first gen seat belts I was planning on putting in my 75 REPU. Just need to find a good mounting point for the portion that coils the belt. Has anyone used first gen belts in this type of application?

thanks guys

i might check out junk yard stuff, just concerned how worn the belts or retractor is.

As for auto-x, I agree Klaus. I might just put one of those big plastic paper clips on the belt to hold it in place. That's all the $40 CG Lock is anyways.

Somewhere

...in my parts pile I have a set of belts I got from a j-yard, for cheap, and still in decent condition. Didn't get around to the swap...yet...
The one good thing about the original ones is that you can snug 'em up to the point of asphyxiation --at least temporarily-- just about right for an autocross run.
Always figured the replacements ought to go with replacing the 'couch' with 'proper' racing-oriented thin-back buckets... and have at least four, if not five points of tie-down...

bought the retractable seatbelt today

On sale, with hardware and shipping $82.00. Got the one made for bench seats with 20" long push botton receiving end (stock is 18").

The factory belts were bothersome, fall out the door when opening the door and getting out.

GF and friends kept complaining....

I'll try one and if it works out I'll order passenger side.
