Spooky
You ever notice when someone sells REPU center-caps they always come in threes?

maybe i haven't noticed three's
but i have noticed that they weren't four's, and they were usually damaged.
is there a trick to removing them. I try to pry as gently as possible and work my way around. and get a rag under the corners to pull and twist.

I bought four of them from ebay !!!
And they were in pretty good condition...
There is some bending marks at the edge at the bottom on two of them , but over all looking good...
I think a easy way to get them loose is to poor hot water on the caps, and then pull them out with a glove on your hand... We have a compound here in sweden that refresh rubber , so it get softer... And a good thing to do if you change the wheels...Is to refresh the rubber rings with this compound...It might get it easyer to pull out the caps next time they have to be pulled...
Greatings from the swede...

Yea, I'm hoping the damaged ones on Ebay...
will not be too much demand so if I get em for cheap, I can sacrifice them to maybe reproduce some. I figured I could experiment with damaged ones and won't feel bad about destroying them. They will have to be stripped, welded, ground, polished, and hopefully be in shape to cast a mold. We'll just see how much somone want's them first. It just looked like a good future project.

Hey Ken, do you have facilities to do metal casting or is this a 'what-if' futuristic sort of discussion?

You don't want them to be easy to remove, that's how you get sets of three, with the fourth slung into the scenery somewhere. Of course that may relate to how rotor-heads tend to drive!

My own technique was to bang around the outside with a rubber mallet then twist and pull them out. If they are too tight, you can just unbolt the rim and work them out with it. Good idea to inspect the rubber so you don't end up with a three piece set from the rubber coming out or tearing. At this age, it may be about to go powder anyway. Tough item to have original. Congrats to all who manage it.

Are you able to get new rubber like that?

I do have access to facilities...
in which I can get casts made. I may not dod them in metal. I am thinking of a composite material. We'll see what condition they are in and how this project fits with my other priorities.

rubber
the rubber under my caps is still flexible. the problem that i have is that they are slighty stretched. putting them back on without folds and wrinkles is troublesome to say the least.

So, what's up with you guys...?
I noticed you both were bidding on the same part(s)... I would've been interested in as well... Do we still have some kind of general agreement as regards who bids first, and not helping to increase the price on items, or is it a free-for-all? And, at what point, if any, will those of us with more parts in our pile defer to those who 'need it more'... nevermind how high some guys are willing to bid? Just checking... (I didn't want to be the one to spoil it for ya...)
BTW, Curt-- I take it you recieved the shroud intact? Did it work for you?

I can see klaus' point. Do we need some sort of FAQ for eBay stuff?

I believe that I have all four center caps in good condition that I do not use anymore. If anyone is interested let me know and I will check them out fully.

Yes, I do have all four caps. None have rust, one has minor damage near the center like a small chisel groove and all four have minor scratches where they have been removed during the years. There are no dents and no evidence of them being bent. If you want them I will sell them all for $10 plus my shipping cost from Denver. Call me at 303-697-9350 after 7;00PM mountain time. Paul.
