Talked to Rob...

...sounds like we need three more people to commit, in order to set the run in motion...
"Step right up! Get'cher Valance Here!"
Also asked him about the 'air intake panel', since I'm guessing I'm not the only one who could use those as well...
What do you guys think? If enough of us are up for it, it sounds like that--not to mention stainless repro. battery boxes--would be possible...
It's all about a certain minimum number of folks being committed to the project...

BTW, it's occurred to me that items like these ought to be stocked/resold via a number of speciality shops, or perhaps via one or the other of us...? There must be a somewhat larger market than 'right here, right now' that could generate some more volume to facilitate more better parts, at a better price!

We know you don't have ALL the money in the world.....

We just think (or thought) that you had MOST of it. After all, you pay more at times for tail lights than most of us paid for our whole trucks.

Now we know the truth though, its time to let it out.

You found one of Sadam Husseins's trunks full of gold and US currency stashed in the desert when you wandered off to take a leak. You had it shipped back to the wife disguised as gifts and buried it in the back yard under a rusting Datsun, cause you knew nobody would ever look under it.

Then, from your far corner of the world, aided in conspiracy by your faithful wife, you set out to scoop up every darn last decent rotary vehicle on the planet.

Yea, we got you figured out Dave.....

Chris, you need that valance!

If you drive your REPU, you'll eventually need a spare... If it was me, I'd take off the flawless original and hang it on the wall... and run the 'glass repro instead! Originals are waaaay too rare, and expensive--if you can even find one.

Update 2/12

Alrighy: here's the latest info:

The valances are being produced at a rate of about 3-4 a week. Rob also had custom cardboard boxes made (at $3) to ship them securely.

The first shipment should be made early next week (2/16?)

Thanks guys!

I look forward to receiving it.

Do we call to pay, or do we wait for our turn and await a call from Rob & Co?

Got mine!

Anyone else get theirs yet? Haven't tried test-fitting yet, but they look pretty damn good, just like Rob said, "...almost nice enough to just leave in the gelcoat, almost...". Except for a few minor scrapes/scratches, and somewhat rougher edges than I'd imagined, they do look sweet indeed. I'm sure they'll look fantastic mounted and painted. Thanks, Rob!

Got Mine Yesterday....

Got my two, and they do look great with one small (potential?) problem- the valance on my trucks seem to have a lot more height than the Pineapple ones. On my repro valances, the top of them is trimmed off just (and I mean JUST) above the upper screw holes. My valances on my trucks have at least another 1/2" of metal above the screw holes. Basically, the valances on my trucks are taller than the repro ones. Don't get me wrong, I am NOT complaining at all- overall I am VERY happy with them, just curious if anyone else has noticed the same thing?

Just went out and measured...

...and I've gotta say, mine all look pretty much the same as the stock metal piece! Roughly inch and 1/4 lip at the ends, measured from the base of the curve... centers appear absolutely proper, as well... at least as far as a visual inspection as vs. my '74's in the driveway...
Doesn't appear to be much metal above my screws at all; go figure... Yes, the edges *could* be a bit smoother and yet more precise overall... but for the price, the quality is at least 'good enough', if not excellent, IMHO.
I'm convinced I'll be absolutely thrilled whenever it finally comes to pass that I have full paint and body done on one... and I'll wager no one will be able to tell it's not a stock valance, unless and until they look behind it, or tap on it for a sound...

Not arguing that.....

I hope no one gets me wrong... the valances are excellent in how they look and I'm sure how they'll fit. I just haven't taken one of my metal ones off the truck yet to see how much overlap the valance does to the body of the truck itself. I had just noticed the lack of material above the screw/bolt holes on mine compared to my trucks is all. Maybe mine were just trimmed a bit more than the others. I suppose that may be possible as Pineapple told me that they were receiving them in 2 or 3 at a time to ship out to us. No big deal, just curious. I can't wait to get them on the trucks! And paint! And engine rebuilds! And suspension! And....
