Well, it's the one I've had my eye on for YEARS...

...literally! Some of us may recall references to this REPU in posts/threads long past. This was the one I had the 'agreed' $100 deal on, except I had no place to put it... when I finally did have a place, (about 2 years after initial contact), the word was, "...I've changed my mind...for that much, I'll keep it." Kinda pissed me off, but oh well, what could I do? I wasn't in a position, or of a mind, to start offering more... (principle of the thing...) Matter of fact, I remember calling and leaving a phone message to the effect that if they decided they did want to get rid of it, I'd give 'em $50 ...
So, a couple'a months back someone mentions to me, do I know about the REPU near my neighborhood? Turns out, it was the same one... sitting in the yard of the one guy who's owed me the most, for about a decade now--and lots of other folks as well, total deadbeat... There might've been other ways to do it, but my approach was to ask Mike to go check it out, so as not to make it impossible by virtue of past BS... and I already knew the general condition of the truck, anyway. (Turned out it wasn't the deadbeat dude's REPU anyway...)
Just got done scrubbing it down on the exterior; it's remarkably straight! If it wasn't for the rust in the bed, and what I have yet to uncover under all the old carpet in the cab... that, and the dead pinto setup under the hood... There was a push bar on the front bumper that saved the grill, and the hood trim strip (!), but it left holes/scars in the bumper... The valance is trashed, (of course), and when they converted it to pinto piston power, they chopped out the frontmost crossmember...
Still, overall a sweet score... I gave $175... who knows for how much, or why, the guy who had it just before me bought it... I'll guess he made $75 off the deal.
There might be a couple'a other guys in my locale who are gonna be bummed they didn't jump on it when they had the chance... but after two months have gone by, after someone alerts me to it's 'new' location, well... I don't feel too sorry for anyone, they had their chance. As for me, I'm celebrating "REPU-mas" in November! :)
Now, which one's 'on' first, and what parts get kept for which one... and how soon do I have what else for sale, to help fund 'the one', or.. 'the two'?
Hey Kick, remember that idea I had about trading you and your dad a REPU for some panelbeating on other/another one...? Let's talk.

Perhaps we can have a little REPU-head

get-together with Rob, for those of us in the area... if we all have a wee bit of time, at the same time. We could meet in Portland for food, drink, valances, and camraderie... ?

update!

Called Rob today and he said the mold should be done any day now. Then they'll run off one, check it out, and then run off several valances. I'll call again after Xmas and see if they're done.

the molds should be done this week.

then he'll run off one and see how it comes out.

if the mold works out he'll run off many and sell them for the good of the repu community. seriously!

i asked him if i can call him after xmas and see where the project is at and he said that would be fine.

Does anyone have one on the way yet that can post some pictures? It sucks that the valance is one of the only front end parts I don't need. But I am real happy to see that someone has came out with something now. Maybe if he sells enough and they are worth his while he will shoot for some other much needed components.

Hehe Scalli, just drive your truck for six months. You'll need one :)

It seems that its a 'consummable' item. Meaning that everyday driving just seem to consume them. I've never seen one in good shape. Seems like they take a beating from everyday driving.
