what color.....

was originally in the insert of the center grille emblem? amber or red? something else? any of you original owners rememeber. want to try a home restoration but not sure what color is correct.

mine looks amber today, 29 years after it rolled off Mazda's assembly line.

An extra one of mine looks sorta amber with a hint of a redish aftertaste. The one on my REPU will get looked at tomorrow. The white REPU (pictured on my webpage) has lost some of its amber stuff, but I'll look at it tomorrow as well.
