hood hinge pin

I lost one of the hood hinge pins. I haven't gone to the junkyard yet, but I would assume that I would probably find a replacement there from another truck, or perhaps an RX7. The dealer only has records back to 77, but can get a hood hinge pin, part number 3874-52-215A. However, it would be a special order and I have no idea whether it would work or not. Does anyone have any experience in getting a replacement hood hinge pin, or where I could obtain one? Thanks.

what year truck?

If its between 74-76 I can fax a copy of the parts breakdown for the hood, once you identify it I can check the dealership parts locator.

The truck is a 74. The part is the actual pin, not the hinge plates. The pin is 2 3/4" (70 mm) long and 1/4" (6 mm) diameter. On one end are slight ridges that extend down the length of the pin 1/4" (6 mm) and it is these ridges that keep the pin from fallng out. The pin goes through one hinge plate that is mounted on the hood and another hinge plate that is attached to the front engine compartment cross piece that the radiator also is bolted onto. The pin is what holds the hinge together and is the pivot. Does this give you enough detail? Thanks for the help.
