"...and the race is on...

Guess there's no more time to waste to get 'em 'fore they're gone, now... Should we post the part numbers too, and see how long it takes?

First come, lucky (I hope...)

These used to list for $4.90 a piece... now they're $17.91.
Is this gonna turn into a race on remaining NOS parts for the well-heeled REPU owners only? Might I ask how straight and clean that tailgate was/is, and what it went/you're asking for ? BTW, don't forget the taillight gasket...

Worth what someone's willing to pay...

Glad to hear you're modest, Craig...wish I was better off financially, myself... I'd make you an offer, but I don't want to insult, and I'm pretty damn broke right now...

Don't forget the combo ring!

Last spring I asked my local Mazda parts dealer about those lens and the aluminum retainer which Mazda calls a combo ring. He got back to me and said Mazda parts distribution center in Woodland, CA said they had 3 rings and 3 lens left and he mentioned that that might be it-nothing more from Japan. Seems like they got restocked. The ring part number is 2627-66-201A. Yes, I bought them and paid the big price.

Pretty funny there, Craig... tho I won't disagree with you at this point. Of course, if I had all the parts I ever wanted, I could just start posting everything available, including part numbers, and let those with the time and money to get on it score it all... Speaking of which, did you really shell out $48.13 each for four taillight trim rings, repujeff? Personally, that's where I've gotta draw the line and say, "I think I could manufacture that part myself for less!" (Or at least straighten 4 bent ones...)

Full price-not exactly

Klaus, it seems that since the truck was bought at that dealer and that the same rotary mechanics are still working there, and that they are "awed" by the shape the truck is in--I get a discount when I bring it in or buying parts. They gave me 20% off so I saved a little bit. The Mazda guy their says that truck is a "special case" and anything I need done to it will be taken care of.

Klaus, my intent is for these parts to be purchased before
they are scapped by mazda. as far as i know 4 hoods at the
richmond va. warehouse were tossed out, i wanted one but
wasn`t able to find the $550.00.i don`t wish to see these
trucks disappear, all my parts are take offs. yes, i had a new tailgate {its on the repu}. i have a new factory exhaust
saved the old one.i wish to sell my spare parts to keep more
guy`s on the road.

I can appreciate that...

So, do you know anything of Mazda's (impending?) parts scrapping? If we're up against a "new" deadline--or there's more to know about their d--n ongoing scrapping of parts, let's have it! We're all in the same boat...

Scrapping parts

nothing i know about, but they don`t tell us much on my level. mazda is going through some difficult times, there could be a tax write-off for them. i urge everybody to get
what you can afford at this time.i`ll keep checking
warehouse inventories and keep you posted.

Damn Taxes and Insurance !

You'd think there'd be something better in it for everyone, even Mazda--if only good PR and advertising/street cred./reputation--if they'd have an auction or sale of rare NOS old parts to the rotary community prior to scrapping or crushing! Perhaps we should start a letter/fax/email campaign directed at the most likely higher-ups to encourage some oldschool factory support... You'd think they'd at least be able to offer something special to those attending sevenstock... too bad everything's so focussed on sevens and newer only.
"Dear Mazda--We love our oldschool rotary cars and trucks! Please, help us preserve their historic legacy for all time. We ask that you cease the disposal of rare parts, and instead make them available to the owners of such historic vehicles in a renewed effort to support that which remains today of the wankel rotary's glorious past..."

Yes!

Sure. Why not? Who can we talk to? Who is in charge of the parts departments Nationally?

I`ve been doing some looking....

after a cusory check of the warehouses there doesn`t seem to
be much left for repu`s, its possible i may have more in my
storage. i`ve been thinking about an in depth look at the warehouse inventories and posting the reults. any comments
or ideas on how to present the findings. my NOS parts are listed at parts wanted looking for grille emblem.
