Cracked my glass

Shelled out some coin last month and had my torn headliner replaced. Of course, to do that required the removal of front and rear glass.

I ordered a set of glass gaskets from a seller on Ebay in Thailand. You can see them described as Repu Courier B1600 weather seal. The rubber was of good quality and the profile was spot on with the original. I wanted these because you can insert the chrome strip into the middle unlike the all black ones.

Just a heads up on these, the front gasket ended up being about 4 inches short. As it turns out, the rear was about 4 inches too long so I actually used the excess and glued it in to the front to have enough material to reach deep into all the corners.

These gaskets were not preshaped. It is just a big loop so it will not let you put it on the glass first and use the string method to install.

It took several hours just to get it installed on the window channel and several more hours to get the glass seated. I had the bottom and sides done and was working on a top corner when murphys law struck.

CRACK.

This was the original Nippon windshield. Now I have called a couple of glass shops and the only fw246 glass they have is green tinted with a blue shade band across the top.

Does anyone know if they still make just plain clear glass for these trucks anymore? Also, is the all black gasket (fl246) preshaped to the window or is it just one big loop like the Ebay ones?

gasket

It has been awhile since I looked at them, but I have some original Mazda REPU NOS seals, think they were preformed.
I think I also have a rare set NOS trim for the front seal.
Will have to chk on whether the clear is still available. Why must ya have the clear one ?

Just my personal preference to have clear glass. I have never really cared for those tinted tops on any vehicle but if that is all there is left then it doesn't leave one with much choice.

What are you asking for an OEM gasket? The preformed ones would make it a lot easier.

seal

I see lots of seals coming from Thailand now ... this one look s almost too angular.

The last stop for clear FW246 may be Vic Phillips. Call him at 573 785-1915. I will have to see how many seals I have left. I sold one for $300.00 to a REPU owner in Japan.
