Wiper motor removal

I just took one out of my 77, so here ya go.
1.Take off both wiper blades.
2.Take off the nuts on both side holding the wiper shafts up through the cowl.
3.Disconnect the wiring plug from the motor
4.Remove the hardware secureing the motor.
5. With the motor loose, push the wiper shafts down inside the cowl, move the motor and mechanism (linkage) around to free the hood release cable, continue working the motor and attached wiper arm linkage until you have it worked loose and free.
6.Now you can remove the motor from the mechanism.
7 Before starting all of this operation do fault check your wiper motor to make sure it isn't a fuse or the wiper switch.
8.Installation will be in reverse.
9. Not how the shafts are installed in the brass bushings, if you plan on further dis-assembly.
10. note the plastic bushing that centers the brass bushing in the cowl hole

wipers

When you remove the motor, it has a "C" clip and wavy washer like the wiper shafts, make a note of how it goes together.

77 Wipers

"Ball on the end"? it should have a shaft with a wavy washer and a "c" clip that looks just like the two at the wiper arms. If you still have you old motor see if the two are idendtical, if not that's the problem, or the little bearing thats riveted on the lingage might be what your looking at.

77 Wipers

When you push the linkage down thru the cowl you can move it around to let you move the hood cable out of the way. Then bring the whole wretched mess out from under the cowl. Now disconnect the motor from the linkage. Installation should be in reverse.
