My answer to that question:

$169.00 to $299.00 . Provided anyone thinks the seller is to be trusted, and the fender can be crated and shipped without damage.

When whole REPU's can be located for a few hundred, on occaision, what do you think the answer is, realistically?

I couldn't agree with you more Brad.

Rob is really stepping up to the plate and I'm willing to support him by buying a set even if that means something on the truck will get delayed due to my budget being so tight.

The drivetrain parts will always be around for our rotary cars and REPU's, that's a given. Body and trim is completely different so when we have an opportunity like this I say jump on it!

Don't get me wrong, I agree

...with you and Brad as well, regarding the opportunity. Were I flu$h at the moment, I'd pony up the buck$ up-front, to make it happen!

However, I think it's a mistake to assume that any *original* REPU drivetrain parts will be around 'forever'. Sure, there will always be alternatives, modernizations, and upgrades --just like fiberglass repro's are to an original set of steel anything--, but I think the 'oldschool' 4-port 13B and it's accompanying, original '70's drivetrain components are (mostly) well on their way to becoming hard-to-find (in good condition) rarities. (Would that it were otherwise!)

Don't get me wrong either..it's not that I don't think the fenders would be worth it...most certainly they are. I'd pay that in a heartbeat IF the funds were there. Who knows, if this takes a couple of months to happen, maybe I can find a way. The time and materials I'm putting into this thing now is unreal. If I was paying a body shop to do what my neighbor and I are doing (my neighbor is incredibly picky on his bodywork), I bet I'd be shelling out 5-7K minimum. That said, $600 for fenders doesn't sound so bad.
And, the way this truck is likely to eventually turn out..I'll be absolutely SICK to see rust coming back on the fenders of an otherwise beautiful truck!

Well, it's been almost a month and we have nobody to lend Rob fenders to start this project. There has to be someone close to Rob that can do this.

1. Rob need someone local to Portland, Or that has perfect fenders to make the cast from.

2. He would also like someone to test fit them, also in his area. (it can be the same person that supplies the fender, or someone else that has the time to do the test fitting themselves!)

Please contact Rob at http://pineappleracing.com/Contact.html#

Rob was/is really stepping up to help us out. The only problem is that we need someone to loan a really nice pair of fenders to Rob and to help test fit them. This is why this project has stalled. If anyone can help out please contact Rob and we can get this going again.

Maybe in the new year... (?)

1.) Remove best pair of fenders; clean meticulously.
2.) Get over the fact that the stock original striping will likely be removed/damaged 'in process'...
3.) Get over the fact that the remaining stock finish will likely be 'compromised'.
4.) Hope that they're "good enough" for the task.
5.) 225 mile round trip to deliver them to Rob.
6.) 225 mile round trip to pick 'em up... not to mention test-fit time (1 day?)while there...
7.) How much discount on a 'glass set in return?

Yep.

Isn't there *someone*...

...who's *already* in Portland...?

...(I thought Rob had a REPU, too... as well as a stash of spare parts/body panels...)?

Rob said his wouldn't make a good mold since they are a bit used, with imperfections around the bottom...

He also looked into his attic, and didn't have a set.

Well, *everything* I have...

...is most certainly 'a bit used'-- so I guess mine are not contenders, anyway...
