87 b2000 to 13b swap specifics??!!

Hello,

im new to the mazda truck scene and just had a few newbie-ish questions.....

is the bellhousing bolt pattern the same for the 13b and the b2000, or is there a kit i would need?

which clutch do you use? pressure plate???

can you swap a later 13 n/a to some form or carburation and still have it run correctly?

any input would be appreciated...

thanks

It's really not that hard of a swap. I'm in the process of doing it right now and it's not that bad, i really just wish i would have stuck with carburation and not kept the fuel injection set up. To mount the 13B up to the transmission, here is the best course of action. Get yourself a transmission from an rx-7 for your 13B. The "guts" of the 2 transmissions are almost exactly the same, except the rx tranny will give you a higher top speed because of gearing, and the input shaft is a different length. What you can do it take the tailshaft housing from your B truck and put it in place of the tail shaft on the rx7 tranny. This now lets you mount up the engine while keeping the same shifter location, etc. Since the eccentric shaft or "crankshaft" of the rotary sits a lot closer to the middle of the engine than in a piston engine, i ran into problems with the whole engine sitting too low. so what i did was I made a spacer on my tranny mount that lifted it another inch and a half. I then had to make room for my slave cylinder because it was hitting the fire wall. If your good with a welder you can then make yourself some motor mounts. You can get aftermarket carb and intake kits from racing beat and some other companies, this will make your life a lot easier. then all you need is an rx radiator and a fuel pump and some wiring and you're ready to go.
