engine mount info please..

I am on of the unluck that live in a country that didn't import the REPU. so I intend to make one,

I have a 1969 B1500 ute that i intend to fit a 13b and 4/5 speed conversion to. I have the full suspention from a later mazda ute to drop in the front ( disk brakes).

My only question to you gentlemen is that due to not having any access to a genuine ute I have to guess or trial and fit some gear.

I need some information on front engine mounts (type, are they interchangeable with other rx vehices and also need the same info for gearbox crossmember.

PHOTOS WOULD BE GREAT.......

secondly has anybody done this conversion ?? my ute is very simular to your B1600 pickup

Thanks in advance

I'm fairly certain

4-port 13B engine mounts, (all 1974 through 1977, REPU, rx-4, cosmo), are all identical. Furthermore, the '79/'80 rx-7 transmission is a direct interchange, mounting wise, with the earlier 'ribcase' models... Ratios differred somewhat, by year, model, and manual vs. automatic, but these days the main thing is increasing rarity of parts for the old ribcase trannies... but they are better for high-output situations. As far as how they mount up to a UTE....?
If you guys got the '84 rx-7 GSL-SE down there, I'd go look under one of those for inspiration...

The front cover mount itself is different. Only the rubber motor mounts are the same. Also, the '79-'80 5 speed is a direct bolt-in to a ribcase 5 speed. If you're like me and had a 4 speed ribcase and went to a '79 5 speed, you'll need to slot your holes. Same deal if I had gotten a ribcase 5 speed.

"Slot yer holes"???

You must be talking about swapping trans. to bellhousing...? If you DO find an rx-4, consider building it... certainly more valuable than a non-REPU rotary Ute...

define value?

I build cars for myself not for a value, I know I will have more fun annoying the punters in my old ute than some riced rx anyday. If we all build cars for their actual value you would never sell them as their worth just in man hours would be huge.

and lastly

find me an rx with 42000 genuine miles on the clock like my ute and i'll buy it

Not to offend on a truck-centered forum, but

consider that the rx-4 was/is the car closest to the REPU in any fashion...they get along, look great next to one another, share certain parts, and are like brother and sister!
What's more, they're becoming about as rare as the REPU's...
As far as finding one low-mileage, I can't speak to the situation in your part of the world, but I can still recall a few years ago around here coming across an automatic trans. version that had exactly that amount on the clock... you see, it seems that a bunch of the old auto. trans. mazda's experienced tranny problems right around 40 to 50K miles... some likely just sat around ever since...
I'm sorry to say it hasn't been too many years since I parted with a '74 rx-4 wagon that would've made an excellent resto candidate...not running, but just such a situation. Unfortunately, neither I nor my buddy Mike, whom I gave it to when I sold him my '76 rx-4 coupe had a place to keep it for long...or funds/time to make it something. So, we stripped it for parts, and it went away... a situation I'd do my best to avoid in the future...
Oh yes--best wishes for success on your project! To each their own, to be sure. And, just so ya know... I'd NEVER suggest to anyone to do a 'ricer' job on an oldschool rotary car, (or any other, for that matter)!
Wings are silly, for the most part; huge exhaust tips make me laugh; 'stickertuners' suck, and if you have those damn superbright lights, better know your low beams around others...!
