I take it you were already running a header and electronic ignition dizzy?
If not... you need to.

hope you are using turbo rotors and ceramic apex seals,or that motor is as good as gone.i tune a lot of cars at my friends dyno shop and if the motor isnt built right they do come apart .every 2 lb of boost =1 point on compression .a header doesent make much of a difference and neather does msd boxes and such.camden roots style super chargers also make a lot of heat because of the vane design and there is no intercooler .hope this can help

Yes on the headers
My brother and I ran superchargers on rotor motors as far back as 1976, and only ran over the counter Mazda parts (were a Mazda dealer) and havent had any issues with motors breaking. We only run about 12 lbs. of boost. I see the astronomical boost #'s that some of you younger rotor heads run and I'm astonished anything stays together. Fuel infected and using a computer. I'm still an old carburetor guy. We were supercharging and turbocharging with home made crap before rotary racing was cool. Now I'm paying somebody else to install my blower. Thats what starts happening when your almost 60.

Hey Bob, almost 60 and still a rotor head. That is to cool! Did you ever get the valance on the truck? Is it true that 2011 is the last year for RX8's?

7" blower, whatever pulleys that came in the kit. If the boost is too high, Ill change pulleys. It dnt just "bolton" a 74 model...havin' to make some adjustments, brackets, machine out the pulleys.....normal shit. hope to git it going today.

Got it on and it runs great. unfortunately the blower vibrates more than the engine, so I've taken a perfectly smooth drive train and added a vibration. Not bad, but is there. Sure put a kick it butt though.

Yeah, my 5" vibrates a little. The 7" is smooth. Glad you got it working!

Can a blower be "balanced and blueprinted"...?

Sorry for long over due answer. Yes, got the valance on way back. looks great and fit great. and 11 will be the last year for the RX8. were hoping for an RX with the 16G, but thats not looking promising either due to emissions.

I don't know how MAZDA will overcome this since the motor is designed to burn a small amount of oil all the time and gets poor mileage by nature. Direct injection can help some with mileage but not with the oil metering pump.

I wish it was a matter of adding another catalytic converter.

I've sent in my 2 cents worth several times to MAZDA. If they would stop taking the oil out of the crank case, and instead have a separate reservoir with the right kind of lubricant in there, they wouldnt have a problem. Hell they could run castor oil. And a one gallon reservoir would last the average driver 8000 miles. If they changed oil every 5000 as they should the oil injection system shouldnt ever run out. If the owner is stupid enough to go further he deserves to burn up an engine. They could put a fail safe on there that if the injector tank got low the motor would only run 2000 rpm. But what do I know. I told them in 04 they had the oil too lean. it took them two years to agree with that one and fix it. Im just an old hick from Texas, what could I possible know......

Yep. (Not to mention any more radical/interesting possibilities.)
